Help Android OS using 70% of resources

I recently rooted my phone and the other day I installed Launcher Pro. I have everything set up the way I want it, but I've noticed that my battery has REALLY been draining quickly. I checked the system resource usage, and in the past, the Display is always be biggest resource thief, but right now Android OS is using between 65% and 70% of resources. Display is down at 20%.

Launcher Pro is at 3%, so I doubt it's that, and I deleted all my widgets and checked again. No help.

What on earth is causing Android OS to suck up 3x the resources of the display?

Did you flash a custom rom after rooting? If not, it would be a good idea.
My ally (retired) has Display at 54%, and Android System @ 22%. plus wifi
thats all that is using the battery. I have godlike battery life but i also dont use my ally now as much.

No, I'm still using the Motorola/GB combo, but I plan to switch ROMs. I just wanted to learn a bit more about the process so I felt comfortable about doing it. But I guess that's a question for the other forum!

As for now, I did a battery pull and let the phone sit on the desk for a few minutes, then put it back together. I'm back to Display: 65%, Android OS: 5%. Maybe it was a hiccup.
