Android & Outlook

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any success in syncing their Outlook with their Android device. My boss is trying to make the transition from Blackberry to Android, but she lives by her Outlook, and we're looking for the best way for her to do this, whether it is an app, or just syncing her Outlook with her Google. Any tips, suggestions or feedback?

Hey there!

This rather depends on what she uses outlook for: e.g. Exchange or another email provider (such as Google or Hotmail).

Knowing this would go a long way to helping with your question.

Thanks & Welcome to AF!

I live by Outlook, and I simply sync the calendar and contacts to Gmail and there it goes and sync to my phone no problems.

If you're normally syncing Outlook to Microsoft Exchange. You should be able sync an Android device to it as well. Settings > Accounts & sync > add account.

Depends on which Android phone you have, I know HTC and Samsung has their own free synching app, I have the S3 and you can download Samsung Kies which does a great job synching your outlook contacts, tasks and calendar, it even will sync your iTunes music and playlist.

Do you use categories/groups in your address book?

If so, do they come over from Outlook?

Yes they do. I have them in categories in Outlook and they show up as "groups" in Gmail and the phone. I sync them via cloud using Go Contacts Sync on my PC.

Thanks. Now I know it is possible.

I have been beating my head against the wall for days on end trying to do a complete migration and I'm not getting the Categories ==> Groups yet.

"Yet" bc you have given me hope..... at least the capability is there... and I'm just doing something wrong... so far...
