Android permissions question?

Hello all. im new here and im sorta new to android

I have been reading allot about permissions on apps what are dangerous and what are not. Now when i go too the android market (play market) and i check out the most downloaded apps with the highest reviews, they all seem to have "dangerous permissions". for example, beautiful Widgets app which im sure most of you have heard of, it requires to read/write/modify contacts. WHY? its only a system tweak why does it have to read contacts?

Another example, a game called Six-Guns, its free it looks amazing and it has high reviews and high downloads, but it requires to read your accounts and anything you type in as a username. again why? its a game! so am i just being paranoid over these permissions as allot of websites state that they are dangerous or are these things actually normal?

You are right in being skeptic about permissions .It helps to filter out malware/notorious apps .

to tell you the truth I haven't seen read/write/modify contacts in beautiful widgets

Beautiful Widgets does not have the contacts permission. They explain all the permissions here Beautiful Widgets : Permissions needed / Beautiful Widgets / Knowledge Base - LevelUp Studio Support

Otherwise, yeah always good to be skeptical about permissions. If you feel uneasy about an app, just don't use it.
