Android Phone 7 Theme

I'm new to this whole customization thing so can someone school me on how I get a custom dock?

1. You're in the wrong thread for questions like that. This thread is specifically for the Android7 theme.

2. You didn't specify which launcher you are using. If I may be so bold to assume that you do not have a third-party launcher yet, let me suggest a few:

Also I'm trying to change my keyboard so I do I go about doing that?

A Market or Google search could find things like this:

Hi,

sorry if this has been asked before, but i have a question about the sizes of the widgets. i'm using a samsung galaxy s2 and i've installed both desktop visualiser and launcher pro plus on it. I don't really like using launcher pro because I like the stock launcher, so is there a way to just use desktop visualiser on my original samsung launcher? i've no idea what the widget sizes should be.

I need some help setting mine up. I am running ADW 4x5 and i still cannot get the icons close enough together and also i am looking for a phone icon that is 2x2

Run Paul MZ's DVR test and post your screen shot, I will measure for you - then you'll know proper sizes for getting your phone tile, There are tons on here to choose from - glad to size one for you. Make sure it's a full size screen cap, too.

Okay i ran it but it didnt give me any results even though it says both configures have been completed..
Yeah...unfortunately that app doesn't work unless you use DVR's other apps to calibrate and slice directly inside their apps. No, if you go back to the post, there are two images to download and put on your phone as DVR widgets - you spread them out at intervals as demonstrated, take a screen cap, and post here to measure. Make sure it's full size :)

Well, I guess you didn't actually do the test as it is shown in the post. It is not an app. You create Desktop Visualizer widgets using the red and yellow bar images as shown. Go the the post at the "test" link above and post your screenshots after.

OR

I see you have your dock turned off. The only dimensions I have pre-made for no dock are also with no notification bar (I am personally using this current setup- I find the dock and notification bar to be pretty much useless). If you don't mind also hiding your notification bar, try this: Android7 Layout Using ADW Launcher - Without Dock or Notification Bar.

I cant find where yuou turn the notification bar off

[MENU]-> [More]-> [ADWSettings]-> [UI Settings]-> [Screen Preferences]-> "Hide StatusBar" checked.

You can also set it up so the Notification Bar will show with an up or down swipe:

[MENU]-> [More]-> [ADWSettings]-> [General Behavior]-> [Gestures]-> then change your "Swipe down actions" or "Swipe up actions". (I actually have mine set up as "Swipe down actions" = Notifications window, "Swipe up actions" = app drawer).

Hope this helps.

This may be a stupid question, but is there any way of making homescreens vertically scrollable like in actual windows 7 phones?

Hi,

I asked about the galaxy s2 widget sizes. I've tried using the screen test thing but i'm not sure if i did it right. Here are the 2 screen shots I have...

Im not sure why the yellow bars on top are so fat. they are four 1x1 DV widgets.

Thanks for your help :)

As far as I know, the only launcher that does a vertical scroll is actually a very good copy of the Windows Phone 7 launcher made specifically for Android:

This third-party launcher actually does a really good job of emulating the Windows Phone 7 design, including some live tile widgets and a vertical scroll for the homescreen.

Limitations, however, do include only one actual homescreen with a vertical scroll (and last time I tried it-- no looping), and only 2-sizes of widgets. It has been a while since I tried it, though. Maybe it's even better than I remember. Only other problem is that the tile sizes are different than my dimensions, so you will probably have to make new custom images for the widgets if you don't want to use the stock ones that come with the launcher.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I thought that I had answered your first post already.

Okay, this one is a bit tricky. The vertical bars are blurry at the ends and stock launchers don't necessarily use the 10-pixel gaps that third-party ones do. But the math appears to work at the moment. Give these dimensions a try:

Widths:
1- 110px
2- 230px
3- 350px
4- 470px

Heights:
1- 140px
2- 290px
3- 440px
4- 590px

I don't know why, either. That's just weird.

Also, the second image link didn't work.

Paul,

Thanks for the help!

The second pic is here. I don't know why it didn't show up, sorry:

I made some screens using the dimensions you suggested. The horizontal widgets e.g. 2x1, 3x1 don't seem to be lining up so well.

Really appreciate your help :)

This is my effort and it is pretty awful

As you can see the gaps between the images are a bloody pain and I cant seem to close them. Can anyone please please help me.
I have a Samsung Galaxy s2. I believe this phone has a resolution of 480 x 800, and I used all the image dimentions from the opening post, but all Im left with is that dreaful effort.

hi,

i have a gs2 as well and the sizes from paul's first post work fine for me when I use launcher pro. Did you set it so that it has 4 columns, 5 rows, and to auto-fit widgets? I'm not an expert here but that is what I used following paul's post and it worked fine!

How did you manage to get two different background papers?

The Bruins hockey one and the plain black for the tiles to show?

I tried using one app but didn't work for me.#

Ta

I use multi picture live wallpaper to do that...I don't have the link handy here on my phone but you can search for it in the market.
