Help android.process.acore not responding!!!

Android Enthusiast
Hi,

I having trouble with my phone yet again!!

Just disconnected it from the computer and it started heating up alot.
It then locked up completly.
I tried a forced battery removal and when it restarted it wasnt working properly and i got a Error report saying that android.process.acore was not responding.

Its running really sluggish - takes 5 to 10 seconds just to load the home screen when i unlock it.
non of the apps are running properly and for some odd reason the weather clock widget that ive got on the home screen keeps showing a different time than the clock on the menu bar.

Any help welcome cause i really love the phone but if this is another issue where i have to send if back again then im really starting to piss me off

Do you have your contacts stored to your Google account?

Try heading to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Contacts Storage -> Clear Cache and Data.

You might lose your contacts (why I asked if they're backed up to Google), but it should fix the error message.

thanks very much i think that solved it :D
it didnt work instantly but after a couple of simulated battery removals and a couple of restarts it seems to be running.

I am now unsure what to do though,
when i was having the problem last night the phone was kicking out some serious heat
i mean im used to it getting warm during use but this was damn hot.

and now everythings back to working but it all seams to be going slower.
not massively slower but enough that im noticing it,
for instance facebook used to open up instantly but now it takes about 5-10 seconds,

im not sure what to do, should i try a factory reset or just take it back to carphone and kick up a fuss! :D

I'd like to say give it back to carphone warehouse, but if it's not massively slower or hot all the time, I reckon they'd tell you there's nothing you could do. You could monitor the temp going forward (I use Elixir 2), normal use temp for me is about 30 degrees C, anything above 40 I think is a little too hot. Whenever it gets bad, screenshot it to keep a record.

No harm in factory resetting either, see if that makes a difference.

right have found out the problem,

for the last week or so my phone has been working ok,
then last night plugged it into the computer for the first time since it went haywire,
as soon as i unplugged it from the PC it started crashing and throwing up the same process error as last time and yet again its taken two forced battery removals and two restarts before its even starting to run properly again

im ringing the shop this morning and going to try and get a replacement,
its already been sent off for repair once and im not sending it off for 2 weeks again!

has anyone ever experienced this or other problems when unplugging a one x from a computer??

Nope, never experienced that before.

What was you doing on your computer when the phone was plugged in?

How did you remove the battery too?

The battery removal was just a simulated one done by holding the power button down for 10 secs

Both times I have been transferring files onto my phone, I've double checked the files for viruses and both are clean.

Have done a factory reset and things are running ok but haven't had chance to connect to PC yet so will try that tomorrow.

N yup both times using the HTC cable supplied with their charger.

Have rang carphone warehouse n they were worse than useless only option if I can't fix it is to send it off again!

Factory reset worked for a couple of weeks, but it happened again today!

angry email to HTC sent! let's see if anything happens

Whats one of those then?

The process acore problem has been around since 2009, it hasn't been traced to a specific brand, model or version of Android.

But it does often seem to trace to the data cache used by applications becoming corrupted.

When you did a factory data reset, you cleared all caches (and removed apps that you installed).

Its return suggests (only suggests, you'll have to tell us) that you re-installed the same apps and one of them - or a pair getting cross-wired with each other - has caused the problem.

Hard to find because instead of the buggy app crashing, it's crashing acore.

Here's troubleshooting from T-Mobile for a Samsung to back up the idea -

http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-3304

Do you have any apps that strike you wonky? Sound boards or live wallpaper not from HTC, maybe for example?

I would hate for you to have go through adding apps one at a time to trace the problem, but I once did, and those examples are what hit me.

Have got a email back from HTC saying that the want to send it off to the UK repair centre for fixing,

If it was an app conflict problem why would it only be only doing it when i remove it from the PC?

Also i was wondering is it worth installing the new upgrade to see if android 4.0.4 solves the issue?

Hi,

I have tried this and for the past 30 days I have had no problem at all

Like everyone I too had a problem with my phone. there was a continuous pop up android.process.acore not responding. Had to keep on restarting but it did not solve the problem. And the phone started top heat up at the bottom as the process was continuously at work. So I thought as to what is making the processor run so much even when I am not downloading my mail, i aint syncing the phone nor i am playing any game....What was the problem....So i went into sync and BINGO i found that google account was the culprit. My contacts + gmail + google+ + Drive + Picassa etc. was continuously getting updated as and when new mails used to come. (even if aint on auto sync)
Next Step -> i deleted my existing gmail account and created a new one. This new account is my very private account which i haven't given it to anyone...have added contacts to this account so that they sync with my phone contacts..but no mails, no pictures...nothing on this id....

With this now my phone is working absolutely fine....have my contacts in place, check gmail via chrome and the phone works cool as it did on day one....no more android.process.acore not responding and no phone heating.....

Try out if your phone is working weird as my did.....

Hi all,

New to site so don't flame... but wow found people having same problem as me..

2 weeks ago I smashed my screen ,and got it replaced using my said bank phone insurance..

All was good and well as 4 days later got phone back with new screen, but phone was reset/wiped which I knew would happen so that wasn't a problem.

After I got it back I reinstalled the apps I had on it,which hadn't given me a problem since the phone got sent off.

2 days later the phone went mental... error messages left, right, & center.
android.process.acore errors, and google has shut down, all google releated apps have shut down, most of my apps shut down messsages.. Also phone wouldn't let me pick it up on incoming calls!
I read lots of forums and websites related to the android.process.acore problem and the others I then kept coming back to this site.

I did try all the fixes, and found that the google app wasn't synching.
I did close it down, clear data and clear caches but it still didnt work!!
I also did a factory reset which still didn't work!!

I have sent my phone back again for the 2nd time  Am I wrong in assuming that if the fix didn't work then there is a software fault?? I also checked to see if the HTC sytem would update it said there was no more updates that I needed.. After reading several forums, am I right to assume that said phone is beyond repair, and totally unfixable??

Will I be looking at new phone??

Help greatly appreciated as I have almost thrown phone out of window and have sent a not happy cutomer letter back with phone as I got emergency call on phone which I couldn't recieve..

You could try an RUU which wipes the phone clean (OS as well, not just apps etc), then reinstalls the entire OS from scratch.

What's your current software number?

Might be hardware again though?

El Presidente,

Cheers for getting back... yeah I think it needs a complete new install!!!

I don't have phone so not sure what current software!! I think it was 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 was waiting for T-Mobile to pull finger out and release Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update!!!

Also not really sure what a RUU is?? presume its a form of software or update??

May get phone back this week, so I'll update post on progress or will have destroyed phone ny then if it's still not fixed!!
