Android RDP and vpn problem

Hi, have problem with android 2.2. connecting through PPTP vpn with RDP client to windows. when connect with vpn can ping server, reach via 3389 port from android. from vpn server can ping android vpn ip. then begin rdp connection from android - android loses network - can't ping server, from vpn server can't ping android (still it shows that it is connected to vpn).
other client like windows, iphone works fine with vpn and rdp. it seems that it is android network problem (tried several rdp clients on android problem the same).

Hi, I am having the exact same problem. Tried many things without any success. Could this be a bug on the Android OS? i am on the froyo 2.2.2 build.

can any of the rdp clients successfully connect on the rdp host's local network via wifi and no vpn?

I use pocket cloud and I'm not using vpn, but I am (when away from home) tunneling a windows machine's port 3389 through my linux machine using connectbot on the phone. pocketcloud works for me tunnelled or local.

Another thing: I'm assuming you're remote from the rdp hosts since you're using vpn, are you connected to a home type wifi router? If so, have you ever successfully used vpn on a laptop connected to that router? Try mobile data instead, any different?

I do PC support for a corp with a lot of laptop users and I've had some people with older wifi routers at home that just don't seem to handle vpn connections at all. It will seem to connect but almost just like your phone, as soon as they try to use an app that makes tcpip connections it disconnects. Some of those people work fine on their routers plugged in with a cable instead of wifi and some work fine after a f/w upgrade, some have had to replace router.

I have tried connecting via mobile internet and broadband WiFi. When using a laptop\PC VPN and RDP work fine from home.

I am able to VPN in using my phone and i can see my session on the VPN server, i can ping my android device (Dell Streak), when i open open Pocket Cloud RDP on my Android i can RDP onto the server and it prompts for username and password, when i click login i just get a blank screen, and at this point i can no longer ping my mobile from the VPN server, but in routing and remote access it shows as connected.

This VPN and RDP worked fine on my iPhone.

has anyone got a solution for this please?

The below fixed the problem:

Hey! Saw another post elswhere in the forum. For Microsoft VPN using PPTP, I think it helps to disable Software Compression in Routing and Remote Access Manager on the Windows server hosting VPN. After I did that, I was able to connect to VPN.

In Routing and Remote Access Manager, right click on the server in the tree and select Properties. Then, under the PPP tab, uncheck Software Compression. I am the Sys Admin at my Co, so I was able to do this myself. Others may have to submit a request to your respective Sys Admins. Besides, who uses compression on VPN's since the death of Dial-up?
