ANDROID SECURITY STANDARDS

If the device was originally sold with Android 6 then the storage should be encrypted by default (it doesn't encrypt when deleting, it's encrypted all along).

If it was released with an earlier version and updated to 6 I wouldn't count on it. Of course there has been an option to encrypt for much longer, so if your device is old enough not to be encrypted by default you can always encrypt it yourself.

It was released with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) (Moto G4plus-32gb). Would it have been encrypted by default?
