Android Smartphone and SD Card

When a user puts a micro SD Card into an Android Smart Phone to give additional storage ... questions:
  1. Does the SD Card only get used when the internal storage gets full?
  2. Does the SD Card have a unique identifier (much like the C: and D: and E: drives of windows)? Or does it simply make the internal storage look bigger with the same identifier as the internal storage? In other words, if say the internal is 128 GB and SD Card of 512 GB is added, would that internal storage look like one span of 640 GB?
  3. If the SD Card has a unique identifier, can the user drag and drop files/directories to and from internal storage?
  4. Does the user have to tell Android that the SD Card is there after putting it in the slot? or will Android know it's there and act accordingly?

1) if you do not plug it in your PC via USB via your device and empty it out.
2) Eventually you do get the right idea of it.
3) Yes much like windows, you have to find the right amount of space for it.
4) I think it does, been so long since I used SD cards, but it carries on heavy user you are used to keep everything in your device.

1st off, not all smart phones are made with the slot for extra storage, so check your device and see if it does or not. Do not confuse the slot that holds the sim card, that Sim card is only there to make your device function with your phone carrier. If you open that slot and see an extra space for another small SD card, then you may be in luck.
What make and model is your phone?

1. in order for that to happen you need to format the card as internal. the sd card is just extra storage for larger files like pictures, and videos. it can also be used to save files of any type as well.

2.if you format the sd card as internal then the card will be encrypted and can only be read by your phone. if you do formatting as such, you will not be able to take the sd card to transfer files to a pc for example.

3.drag and drop from where? within the phone, no problem.

4.no you do not have to format the card. but i always do when i first get it, but it is not necessary. but if you want to use it as internal, then yes you will need to fromat it as such first.

Is it true...once you go there you can't go back?
