Android SSL example

Hello,

i am new to android programming and need to create a login screen using SSL. i also need to know whether i need to create a web service for SSL or a simple php/ASPscript for this purpose.
can some one tell me how to implement this functionality on both sides(android phone and PHP/ASP server)
