Help Android Switching to wrong apps

Can anyone tell me how to stop my S5 running Android 5.0 from switching to the wrong App when I click on a notification?

For example, I have just been using KIK messenger, but am currently on the lock screen.
I get a notification for a text message, which I click on. The SMS app flashes on screen and then flicks back to KIK.

This seems to happen in any combination of apps, I am currently using Solo Launcher, but the same occurs on standard OS launcher. I have even tried using another Rom and factory resets but the issue persists!!

What is it and how do I make it STOP!!

You've given us one example, but if there are more that might help someone understand the pattern.

In the example given it sounds like the notification did open the message app (so the notification did actually take you to the correct app) but then the phone reverted to the last app that was open before the screen locked. Is that the pattern (always reverts to last opened app), or is it e.g. always KIK messenger it reverts to? Does it depend which app produced the notification, or just certain notifications? And does it happen if a notification comes in when the screen is on, or only when you click from the lockscreen?
