Android tablet factory reset

My next door neighbor bought a Curtis LT1041-B for Christmas. The daughter set a lock code on the tablet and has already forgotten it. They asked me to try and reset the device for them.

When I went to the Curtis Int website I wasnt able to find a LT1041-B. They only have manuals and documentation for a LT1041-D and a LT1041. The tablet clearly says LT1041-B. The LT1041-D seems to be closer then the LT1041, so I used its manual. Nowhere in the manual does it describe the process for factory resetting the device. It has a power button and a dedicated home button, so I cant figure out how to boot into the bootloader. I tried getting the tablet into the bootloader using ADB, however ADB doesnt show any devices listed. I am assuming this is because the device isnt in USB debug mode. Also on the lock screen there is no link to reset the password using a gmail account. Does anyone have any ideas how I can reset this device without the lock code??

Welcome to Android Forums. I moved your question to the forum where tablets that don't have dedicated forums are discussed. The most likely place to find another user.

some times u can use the power button and volume key should get u in recovery mode the volume key should b the scrool and powere botton the select

There is no volume button on this particular device. :( it has a power button and a dedicated home button. I have tried holding both down during boot up.

This particular tablet has a reset button.

It is immediately to the right of the home button, but so is the microphone (silly designers ;)) so make sure you poke the right thing or you could ruin the mic. Please refer to this document. http://www.curtisint.com/html/custservice/manuals/CUR_LT1041-B_EN.PDF. It doesn't actually tell you how to use the reset button, but I would guess that you insert a small point like a paperclip until it reboots.

Hitting the reset button only reboots the tablet. To get into the boot menu you might try long pressing the power button.

Yeah it looks like the reset button is nothing more than a reboot button. This is quite annoying. Thanks for all the replys.

There is one more thing you might try. If pressing and holding the power button makes the tablet reboot, then press and hold the power button and keep holding it through multiple reboots. I know that on some tablets, after 8 failed boots it will automatically reset itself.

I got it figured out. whew.
For anyone who is interested:
Hold down the dedicated home button then hold down the power button. Release the power button but not the home button. And then long press the power button. It boots right into recovery.

Thanks again for all the responses.

"Dedicated home button" meaning the second from the left capacitor button? This home capacitor button only appears after the second splash screen and only when you touch it. When do you do this when you fully power it off or when it's already on? You said release the power button and then long press the power button. Well, at what point do you release it and when do you long press it? I tried this. The screen goes black but no recovery mode. Please clearly state step by step what you are doing. Thank you.

Can you give a video on how to do this. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you come across any of the steps to clearly reset this tablet into RECOVERY MODE?
