Assume an environment where people would be using gloves constantly, laying the tablet on the floor, and possibly even laying tools on the tablet's screen. It may even be needed in environments that are uncomfortably hot (to people). It doesn't need to survive a 10 foot dead drop onto concrete, but it needs to not require replacing constantly. What Android tablet should I be looking into?

Toshiba Thrive is one of the tougher looking tablets. Has every kind of port you could need, too. There might be tablets more specialized, though.
