Help Android Task Manager

I have Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 which run on Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo). in order to shut down open applications there is a dedicated button that shuts down open application. My young grandson owns a newer tablet Acer Iconia that runs on Android 4,1. On his tablet there is no button like this. How do you activate the Task Manager when there is no such dedicated button?

Task managers does more harm to your device than it does good. Free RAM = wasted RAM.

But anyways, for newer devices, you have to hold down the home key and a list of recent apps will show up. Swipe them to close them
