Apps Android testing using real device and ADT

Hi,
I am a newbie android developer looking for help on testing android app on a real device using adt. I can only afford a low end phone.
Can anyone tell me which phones allow for installing android apps from PC ?? I read that android does not allow for installation of apps from unknown sources.

Thanks for your reply. Can you also confirm that the settings cannot be overruled by the mobile vendor. I am looking to purchase a low- end phone and I have one shot and I don't want to be stuck with a phone thats useless for testing.
If possible please can you share the names of any devices on which you might have tested android apps.

I can confirm that it has that option under settings, and also from what I read on the web, people always say it is possible. I think, since it's an Android OS related option, specific mobile vendors can't really modify that. But I can't be 100% sure so don't take my word for granted.

Could you ask before you buy if it has that option, or try it out for one minute, just to be sure?

Thanks for replying. The problem I am facing is that none of the small shops I went to showed me a live model. All she showed me was a plastic dummy with a sticker on it. She said thats what its going to look like .:-)
Will have to try the mall.
