Android, The 'WORST' thing a mobile can have

I had used simple 'JAVA' phones,

I had used 'SYMBIAN' phones,

I had used 'WINDOWS MOBILE' phones,

Presently useing 'ANDROID' phone.................

'SYMBIAN' was good,....... 'WINDOWS MOBILE' initially not much happy... but was liking it with time.......

Now using a 'ANDROID' phone since a year.

Basically I beleive that a OS is for it flexibility where users can install applications as per their requirement and availability.


The following things are very worst in 'ABDROID'

1. A internet short cut is shown as an application in menu, but an internet shortcut can never be a application.

2. What you are giving free? no body know what installed application is doing in your phone. They put unknown icons on home screen, the put ads as SMS in messages.

3. SMS composing can not be more worst than in 'ANDROID', all the screen is left vacant, but only a single line the composer can see.

4. Call log never show time of the call, but shows minutes ago, hours ago, one day ago (yesterday). For a human being any time of the previous day will be yesterday, but in android time which is 24 hours ago is only yesterday.

Suppose 10.00 PM of the previous day is yesterday at 7.00 AM of today, but in android 10.00 AM of yesterday is shown as 21 hours ago and you have to caluculate the time.

I will be continuing with other issues as the time permits

1, no idea what you mean. A shortcut is a shortcut. An application is an application. Some applications are launchers to websites

2, Google play lists permissions that apps require. You are expected to read the permissions, read the reviews and make an informed decision. This is the price of being an open platform and this is the same for all open platforms. It is not an android issue.

3, it starts as a single line and expands as needed to a second or third line. I like it as with my black theme, unused space is black so the pixels are off, saving me negligible amounts of battery power

4, I agree the time would be handy in the list view, but simply open up the entry in the call log and it gives you the time and date in the header.

One part I can understand. I have an Acer Tablet and there were some mystifying apps - what was clear-fi? Did I want it? Would it automatically sign me in? I finally had to look it up in Play. Now there's something in apps called a Keyring, but no icon or way to open it. What is that? I've seen shortcuts that looked like they might be communication, but they are a game. If the icon says chat - you have some idea.

Most manuals seem to be quick start today, with no explanations of what is on the phone or tablet. I've downloaded and read manuals that don't answer questions. If you have a limited data plan, you don't want to click help unless you can also use wifi.

I suppose with a wifi only tablet, investigating can be safer than trusting what a carrier has ordered as an app which could possibly sign you in as soon as you clicked on the icon. That would be carrier though, and not necessarily Android. Some TMO users had trouble with Doubletwist turning itself on.

Either the carrier or Android might put all the available icons on the screens. It's up to the user to toss the ones not wanted.

Does Doubletwist sound like anything to do with music? Sounds like a game.

I have an app on the Nexus called "iBird" - what would be the normal reaction to that one?

It's a shame that you have used Android for a year of unhappiness.

Maybe rather than report what you think it does wrong, please feel free to ask us how to improve things or better understand and use various features.

Some of these things will turn out to be model dependent. Please mention what phone and / or tablet models you are using. :)

Sure they're not web applications? e.g. Facebook.

As for the rest of your grievances, sounds like some of them might be specific to the make and model of phone you've got and whatever apps you've installed, rather than being related to Android itself.

If you want a larger window from the start, 3rd party messaging apps such as Handcent or Go SMS have the option of opening a larger composition window instead.

It's worth remembering that there are usually alternatives to the built-in versions of most applications, so if the stock one lacks something you can see whether there's an alternative that does what you want better.
 
Why deal with unhappiness for so long? If you don't know about something or something seems wrong you should have not waited so long to ask. I agree with Early on this.

Your Experiences are Based on where your willing to take things. You would not drive a car for a year with anything noticeably wrong with it so why your phone? As far as Adds and mysterious Icons showing up I've had the same thing happen on my Computer with so called "Free Apps" As mentioned its up to us to find out what an app is doing before we allow it to do it. It's why virus's were able to wreak havoc on our computers.

For anyone just not the OP and for anything If you buy something and something seems to be wrong or just "not right" then ASK no need to continue with something that you paid for and are not happy with.
 
The challenge that I believe some encounter with Android is the assumption that all of the apps installed on the device are absolutes. In most every case you can replace an app that you don't like with another... and keep replacing these apps till you find exactly what you are looking for. To me, this provides flexibility that may or may not be available in many of the other types of phones listed in the OP.

Coming to the subject, the reason that is why still I am behind 'ANDROID' is, in INDIA no dual SIM phones are available with other OS.

To the best of my memory I am using Yahoomail for more than 10 years and Gmail since 4 or 5 years.

Never mymail accounts or the passwords are compromised (hacked or stolen or what ever you call), either on a PC or Mobile (Symbian or Windows Mobile).

But in android within days of its useing both mail accounts were compromised and I had to change my passwords for the first time.

A mail was sent from my yahoo account to all in the address book with out my knowledge. I got to know this when I found some return messages which failed to deliver. There was nothing in the sent folder.

Finally I got to know that this is the work of 'ANDROID', but still I am using it.

Unfortunately not much can be done about what is offered in your country.

Sorry about email. It does happen however it's not necessarily cause of Android. Yahoo it self could have been hacked.

Android I don't believe is the culprit as more people would be complaining. Sorry your haven so much trouble

That wasn't Android. That was either just coincidence or your network channel, either wifi or wireless, not being secured.

Others have thought this about Android, only to come back to explain that the hacking was elsewhere.

PS - If you're looking for help, please indicate your device models, as I asked earlier. :)

If you're looking to simply complain, that's ok too, the forums are what you make of them. :)

If you're looking to teach us what's wrong with Android, I think we're trying to make the opposite kind of deal. :)
 
Thanks once again for concerns and replying by spending precious time.

Now I have a new problem.

Last Sunday I purchased LG Optimus Net Dual P698.

Its ring is ascending and I want to here the caller Id, but I could here the ring only after the caller Id is read out.

This time i thought the problem is with LG and customercare of LG is having only one answer 'visit the nearest service center'.

I got to know from net that this problem is being faced by many on different phones and is originating from 'Android OS'.

I am here not to criticize some body, but what to do? I have no freedom to change the mode of ring on my phone.

If some body can help me I will be grateful.

There is no option in volume/sound settings.

Not sure what is exactly the issue so it sounds like to me that you have a voice setup to tell you "Call From" and it says the name of the person. And that you cannot hear their Ringtone until after this announcement and there is no way to either a) turn off the "Call From" message or b) have the ringtone ring first before the message.

Have you tried asking in the LG Optimus Net Forum? I'm sure there are several people in there who would be willing to help you.

My Assumption on your issue is that The Caller ID gets spoken first because there are a lot of people who don't set multiple ringtones. Most people Have a default for everyone.
 
The problem is, if some body calls me the ring starts with very low volume and the volume will be increasing slowly. And LG says(probably they also do not know), that it is a default setting which can not be changed.

Why I do not want ascending ringing volume is, initially the sound is so low that you can not hear it. As I want a voice caller Id, the read out caller name is also of such a low volume I can not hear.

And it is not the problem with Voice caller Id application.

With out the application also, and for any ring tone the same thing is happening.

If you post in your LG device forum here, experienced users may have a,work around or even know of a,setting that sorts the problem.
