Android Tv Box Flexiview FV-1

Have you tried updating via the box go to settings>>system updates follow the instructions to backup and update. Worked for me remember to put Updatekit folder in sd card and bootup

G'Day, you could also try this method. Download sysroot from the market, go into data directory, you may have UpdateKit draw there!!! delete that one, then do what you were doing with the copy & paste, remember the box has to be rooted and have superuser installed...
Good luck

Hi, just got my Flexiview yesterday and I have it connected to my home network with the LAN port. Can access Internet fine, but how do I access video files I have on my computer? Do I need some special network browser?

You shouldn't have to root your box to update firmware using a documented official method. It's really odd it doesn't work.
But I really recommend have an SD card ready with a firmware update - any version - when you find yourself in the situation where your box doesn't even boot.

I rooted my flexiview with z4root, and then installed superuser (the little app that asks you permissions when launching an app that requires root) and all worked GREAT without any problem.

This is true you don't have too root to update the system, but too use sysroot to delete the UpdateKit in the data directory. I myself had that problem with the UpdateKit being in the data dir/ i could not copy & paste it because it was already there & would not over write it. I now have a bootable sdcard for emergencies, that does fix a box that wont boot...

What I want is the other way. To access a shared folder with video files on my PC so I can play them on the Flexiview.

I use Windows 7 64-bit connected to a router and the Flexiview also connected to the router.

Please help me!

Which version of z4root were you using? Please let me know. Thanks.

I got a google android internet tv box from a ebay seller. I think the box is the same as the Flexiview but without brand name. The seller only can provide a Chinese version of the firmware to me but not English. I'm not quite comfortable of using the Chinese version.

Do you guy know where I can get the English version of the firmware so that I can get my firmware upgrade? Please provide me a download link or a location to get the firmware files.

I heard from people that the Flexiview firmware updating process will check the serial number of the unit, is it true?

I'm much appreciated if you can answer all my concerns.

Thanks for your attention.

The firmware update(s) is linked to earlier in this thread. What worries me is
I think the box is the same as the Flexiview
. You better be 100% sure of that, or else the firmware will not work.
Otoh, I've never heard of a Chinese only Android firmware - It'd be lots of trouble to remove all localizations except one, and lots of trouble isn't something a manufacturer like...

I used the latest (1.3.something, I believe) with latest firmware. Worked fine, once I realized/remembered I had to install SuperUser too.

So, your internet box is from Flexiview, right? I think mine is the same one but without brand name that I purchased from an ebay seller.

When you updated your firmware, will it check for the serial number before proceeding the update process?

Where do you download your latest firmware, can you point to me?

Thanks.

I updated my firmware using SD-Card, a process with the screen completely off, so I have no idea what checks the update process makes.
Here's a link to firmware: Index of /drivers/Flexiview (found by searching this thread...)
If you look closely at the firmware names, they look in part as dates. I updated to U110781_1108181_HW.osk - My FV-1 came with U110781_1107121_HW.osk

How do you like U110781_1108181_HW.osk compared to your previous firmware version? Any obvious changes in the new one in terms of performance? Please share with us. Thanks.

Can't help you there, as I only used the FV-1 for a brief moment before flashing the new firmware. (Had to, as something I installed (or something else) made the TV box boot loop, and reflashing firmware was my only way out.)

Got it working with a app called ES File Explorer. But I had to share the folder to a user and use this users password and username to get acces to the folder. If I made the folder accessible to everyone in the network I still could not access it from the Flexiview.

Someone asked about keyboard experience, I

Powered up my FV-1 tonight to be greeted by several missing icons. I went into ES File Explorer and it said my SD card was unmounted or not present. The card was in there..... I rebooted the FV-1 and same problem. Later on I removed the SD Card and plugged it into a card reader on a Windows XP PC. The card reads and writes just fine. Everything that was on it in the FV-1, is still there and the card looks to be working just fine in windows.

Plugged it back into the FV-1 and it still says the card is not present or unmounted.

This unit is running the latest firmware from this forum.

Any ideas anyone?

I tried to update to the latest firmware using the SDtool with a 2G SD memory card. However, when I click on the "Detect" button, following by inserting the SD card. After a while, it just says something like, "time out, no SD card detected" kind of message. Does anyone out there have successfully created the targeted SD card for updating? Please tell me how you resolved the problem. P.S: My computer identified my inserted SD card as "secured digital card". That's why I don't understand why the SDtool couldn't detect it.

Yes, after trying 3 different computers, I finally succeded. The computer that worked, was an old Acer laptop running Windows XP. None of the 2 Windows 7 laptops I tried detected the insertion of the SD card.

It works only on Windows XP? Too bad. I don't have such old machine!!! Do you mind uploading the UpdateKit folder and its contents from your targeted SD card to mediafire ..etc so that we can download it? Thanks in advance.

Well, according to the docs, SD-Tool should work on later Windows versions, but it also mentions that if all else fails, try XP (which I did, and succeded).

I seriously doubt the SD card prepared for using as update is readable by Windows, and probably not even by a Linux box (at least without finding out what file system is used for the SD card and add that to the Linux install) but I'll have a look - It'd be interesting to see if it is possible to edit the update (perhaps to create a rooted update, and add/remove/customize default/system apps)

Edit: Nope, the prepared SD card is completely unreadable even under Linux. Appears as unformatted, no matter how I try to probe it.
