I know the topic of timestamp changing/sorting on photos copied from phone storage to card storage has been discussed already, and an unrooted Android phone does not allow timestamp modification.
Before I lose all my photos, this question: If I take the SD card out of the phone and plug it into my Ubuntu 14.04 desktop (still learning Ubuntu), can I use some Linux app to modify the timestamps on the copied files back to their original dates and then reinsert it into my Samsung Galaxy S4 and see the photos in the right order? It might be tedious, but if it works, it will really help in the long run. Will Ubuntu recognize and preserve the formatting recognized by Android 5 and the phone?
Your thoughts?
Thanks.
