Android update 12/10/09 - issues? (on Motorola droid)

Yes, I'm on the DROID. there was no message, I followed your advise and rebooted my device and still nothing. I'll see what happens through out the day.
Thanks
Theyre only releasing it to so many people each day, afaik. Thats what i keep reading about it, supposedly theyre rolling it out slowly and every week thay add more and more to the amount theyre updating during the day. But I dont work for verizon or I may have misunderstood what I read.

Can anyone confirm if this update fixed the echo the other caller hears? I have yet to try it out. So far I haven't had any issues with the update. I also don't like how the Google bar moved and I like the rotary lock better.

My upgrade went smoothly, although I did lose one application, a quick uninstall. I really liked the rotating lock in the original, the slide is OK, but the rotator was real cool. Wonder if they can give us a choice?

I got the OTA update this morning, and have found only one issue, my soft keyboard does not pop up any longer. I go into any app where I need to type, touch the text box, and no keyboard. This may not be an issue of the update, so if anyone can tell me how to reset or make sure the soft keyboard is working please let me know.

Thanks in advance

I also noticed today after the update that I cannot connect the Droid with my car's Bluetooth phone system and that the mic cuts out when I put the speaker on.... frustrating...

As long as you are on 3G at the time, all of your contacts should back up to whatever google account you entered or created when you got the phone.

@bella: just wait, they should sync with your phone's contacts at whatever interval you have set

they arent there. what should i do?

Did the update this morning and have been letting it ride out the day. So far I haven't had any issues. The camera auto-focus bug appears to be fixed and a lot of the scrolling seems snappier than before the update. Personally I like the new unlock screen better as the straight across slide is easier than an arching rotary motion. I agree there should be an option for either one though.

Well, I also got my update last night, my favorite so far is bluetooth voice activated dialing. It has been pretty accurate and quick. A few mistakes here and there. I purchased the car mount and slip it in that when I drive. I just tapped the voice search told it who to call and in seconds the phone was ringing. love it! It was quite by accident that I discovered it. I feel the voice quality has improved. The camera is a mess, I did not see any improvement in the time for the shutter to capture a pic, even at 2mp. or improved quality. It was so finicky I was lucky to get the camera to come on at all. I have GDE cube as My home screen and it was either flipping out of control or unresponsive, Than the next minute working smoothly. I have never had that problem before. I don't think I am missing any thing like some I've read about. I'm not even real sure about all that was upgraded, I can't seem to find a list of what was done to check to see improvements. I'm sure time will tell. How do I do a major reset without losing anything, maybe that will help.

I am totally mesmerized by this Android OS and the droid itself. I really hope these updates work. I have until the 22nd to return and if I have to, how will I go back to my LG Touch? I did try the HTC Eris first, the 1.5 was to slow and it had a mind of its own.

It has only been 1 day so I am hoping for the best. This is a great forum, I have learned so much from all of you, Thank you.

Got the update late last night. I like the way things are running, contacts scroll smoother, browser is faster.
Only issues so far is my faceboo/contact pictures are gone. The fb icon option when you press the contact picture is gone, too. Strange part is contacts last fb post is still hanging up top in txt treads.
If anyone knows how to fix, do post.

Ok, so i left the sync on for a couple hours then it eventually caught up. Slightly different UI. So far I like the update.

I am having the same problem as Marsha where the screen blacks out in 3 secs.. It is annoying.. Second anyone checked their wifi? Is it connected all the time? Mine gets dropped intermittently. When it comes back I have to reset wifi for stuff to work properly. Any ideas? Thanks

Everything else was fine in a way.. I lost one picture in the gallery as it turned out full white.. It took like 3 tries to delete it..

All contacts are fine for me..

I absolutly love the new update(2.0.1). My phone runs so much faster and is much more responsive. Everything sync'd and loaded just fine. I did have to log back into facebook, etc. I liked the rotary unlock better than the current and agree that you should definately have the choice... just my 2 cents..

I too had the same issue with the update, on the contacts. It only saved the 5 contacts I've added since I had the phone. They aren't stored on the google contacts website. Any idea how to get them back??/ Where did they go? I still have my old phone with the contacts. Can I go to a Verizon store and have them reupdate it??? I'm really kinda upset about this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey Everyone, First post but not a happy one. =[

I'm also experiencing an outage of any and all FB contact data in my local contacts: I'm only getting profile links at this point. Combined contact information was intact & working earlier today +24 hours after 2.01 update, and suddenly crapped out. Almost sounds like a server side issue... See more details in the Issue I filed at Google Code.

Let me know if anyone is experiencing anything similar.

To anybody experiencing Contact display issues, try Menu when in Contact view, Display Options, and playing around with those options. I had to experiment between my e-mail contact display options to get certain ones to show up. The Options I have checked that make it seem closest to what I had before the update: "Only Contacts with Phone", and "System Group: My Contacts" & "All Other Contacts" (in email options).

On another note, the update seems to have uninstalled my default Gallery App. Why?!? How do I get it back?!?

Got the update this morning only to freeze during the reboot.

I took battery out to reset and same thing. After calling Verizon support, tech said only other option was to do master reset.

Master reset didn't work either. Tech checked closest store inventory and told me no store within 500 miles of Atlanta had any Droids. Was put on hold to see if they could ship me one overnight. Came back to say my nearest store had some just shipped and they could replace it (He actually called them).

Master reset was as follows: Hold down power button and "X" on physical keyboard WHILE inserting the battery. When the Droid "Exclamation" screen comes up, close keyboard and push volume up and camera button. Options will come up. Use the d-pad (5 way navigation on the physical keyboard) to select an option.

I asked the tech if anyone else had this problem. He told me very few of the 500,000 updates have called in with problems.

BJs Newnan has about 30 of them. Odd he/she would say that.

I'm loving the new update. Unlock screen isn't a big issue with me I like both. My phones been running a lot smoother and faster(Never really was that slow before so it's saying something) but the biggest improvement I have seen is the battery life. I take my phone off the charger around 7:30am and usually by about 6pm have to put it on the charger after a lot of texting and random internet and market usage. Usually by about Noon im down to 60% so far its about 11 now and still up at 90% with no difference in usage. Anyone else seeing a difference in battery life similar to this?

They are rolling out about 10k per hour for now. It should be to you soon if you did not get it by the time this message shows. Some nice chg to keyboard lite it now stays on all the time. Faster processes, different opening screen. That is just to let you and Verizon techs know you have an updated phone.

Got the update and am now having SERIOUS issues w/ my Droid. Update IS on the phone as I verified....

1. Several (11 to be exact - even google maps which was on my phone when I got it!) of my apps were deleted (both free and paid ones) and I am unable to reinstall them. Phone lingers at "preparing to install" for hours. Restarted phone several times, took the battery out, etc.

2. Does not sync my email automatically any longer (went into settings and manage apps and sync apps and reset everything to no avail.) have to hit refresh in order to get new facebook updates and new email messages.

3. Can't download any NEW apps either.

4. HATE the new placement of the google search bar below where it used to be and the new unlock - any way to revert to the old?

Anyone else having issues? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated...Loved my phone until yesterday:-(
Kerri
Thanks,

I keep having my homescreens go blank (ie no apps, no widgets nothing). I can still move to the left and right screens but they are also blank. The only thing that seems to work is for me to remove the battery and put it back in. I only got the update this morning and have already had to do this 5 times. It seems to happen when I lock the phone while in the messenger app and then unlock phone and then try to exit the messenger app.
Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
