when i tried to use phone, i turned on screen this morning and an update notice appeared. Since it has jelly bean already, i went ahead and got on to ok the upgrade. Ota had downloaded overnite, and it took about 5 min to install and reboot. What i don't know is exactly what was updated, added, or installed. Did anyone else figure it out yet?

Well, we got an update that updated the kernel version. If you are on vm, this is that, if you are on sprint, this is probably just the essentials installation. If you are on vm and got the new kernel, then victorious (the rom for vm) will, correct me if I'm wrong, will not run stable but I think JerryScript updated the vaevictous kernel.

For VM users it updates your kernel and baseband. You may notice it runs a tad smoother with new kernel. That's really the extent of it.

So far it looks like Victorious runs fine after running update. Victorious pretty much overwrites everything except the baseband, so doind the update and then reinstalling victorious would be undoing the update.

Jerry is gonna release and update that has the update applied.

I installed the update yesterday, and suddenly yesterday evening, I was getting LTE in my house, where I never have before. Not sure if it was related to the update, since I know there are tower upgrades ongoing in my area, but it was a nice treat either way.

Also, I haven't yet had one of the random reboots that have plagued me the past few months. Since they were happening about daily, I'm hopeful that something in the update fixed that too.

Cannot get my update. Always spits out an error during recovery. I've unrooted my phone using the OUDH unroot zip file. Still no luck with it though. (I'm on Virgin Mobile with JB)

IIRC, there have been a few updates. Which ones you got depends on what your phone already had.

If memory serves, there have been 3.

1: Jellybean.
2: Baseband.
3: Multi-carrier compatability.

1 happened a while ago. 2&3 shouldnt make any noticable UI difference. Any perceived change is probably placebo effect. AFAIK, there have been no OTA updates that should make any difference in the UI (Except JB, of course).

If it just showed up, it's #3, tons of threads in the root subforum about it.
