Help Android update

My phone just went through a, what seemed like, big update. Took about 20 minutes. However, nothing changed. I am still running Android 5.0

How do I know what was changed? It updated automatically and installed. Should I be worried? I mean doesn't the phone prompt you to install?

I am with Sprint running a Galaxy Note 3.

Might have been a bug-fix update. But it's still the same base Android version. And if it's a Sprint customized phone, I've read about those updating themselves automatically here, forced updates.

My phone had an incremental update the other day, took about 15 minutes, it's still 5.1.1 though. And this is how I know what changed, there's a note in the update option. Although this is an Oppo phone, and not a Sprint version Samsung.

Note the warning about updating rooted devices, that's considerate of them. :thumbsupdroid:

Thanks a lot!

Ugh! I wish Sprint/Samsung or whoever would get on the ball. I hope Marshmallow fixes the battery drain issues I am having. Charging my phone every four hours sucks.

Sounds like you need to do a factory reset.
Be sure to backup anything you want to keep first.

You might try clearing the cache partition first to see if that solves the battery problm.

You should be searching for battery drain issues not if an update will fix it. If a rogue/broken app is the cause, an update won't fix your problem.

I tried that at the same time that the new battery was put in. I also refrained for putting in any apps aside from Facebook. So unless that's the issue. I don't know what else to do.

I've also cleared the partition. Believe me, before I came here. I did my due diligence and searched Google.
