When I plug my Samsung Android into the USB of my computer, it downloads the software and verifies that it is working, but the file does not show on my computer screen so that I can transfer files from one to the other.

Download SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones and install. Plug your phone in.

Then look where your hard drives are for a new one with a Samsung label - that's your phone.
