Have the Android 5.1 HTC 526 Phone. Writing to inquire if there is an app that would allow the device to act as a VCR with the appropriate connectors... Guidance sought

Much thanks for the timely reply. Should have thought to state that this is just for plain over the air broadcasting. nothing scrambled or encrypted. I have the Vizio D1-D24. Much thanks in advance for your learned reply. What are you wanting to record?
For that to work the phone would need a digital TV tuner, which a small number of phones do have, but not the HTC 526.You could try connecting to your phone and OTA antenna, but highly unlikely it will work

I'm just taking a really vague guess but it might not be so much a matter of adding in the TV tuner components but recording and storing streaming video is going to take up a lot of storage space. With my stand-alone DVR I rely more on external USB drives because the internal drive is typically full. Even a phone with 64GB of storage memory wouldn't take long to fill up, even if the recorded vids are just standard definition. Thanks Kate!
You would think with more cord cutters more companies would add a tv tuner to mobile devices but maybe they see it as less space for the hardware?
