Android Virgin!

Thought id register and say Hi after lurking for a while.

Ive been toying with a tablet for a while, but couldnt really justify, or carry my iPhone 4 and a tab. Ive also been looking into a cheaper tab for my gf, instead of a Kindle. She likes the idea of the extra funcionality of a tab over just a Kindle.
I did consider a Kindle Fire, but not keen on the Amazon heavy reliance. And being completely new, dont fancy trying to root (?) it etc.

I ordered a Galaxy Note today for myself, which will replace my iPhone. So pretty excited to get my hands on it and start playing with some Android stuff. Had it with iOS

You might try a Nook Color (the older one) for your girlfriend as they are available from B&N for only $179.00 for new subscribers and they are darn easy to root and flash to a full android tablet with CM7. Or, you could keep it stock and still have a moderately decent experience.
