Android Virus Article

Out of curiosity, why would this be moved from Android News to Android Lounge? No biggie, just curious.

I think the majority of users are smart enough to not download those sketchy apps...I usually do my research before downloading an app to make sure it is legit.

Speaking for Frisco - because I was about to move it myself - maybe a couple of reasons: first, while its a news article, it's not breaking news - second, exposure, I believe that it and other things similar have been discussed here so I'd expect more discussion here - third, that article is NOT a full story on that Trojan, and like so many news aggregators prefers sizzle over steak.

As I recall - this is NOT the first Android Trojan, it doesn't work silently, and if that part is true, you really have to make an effort to let it harm you.

I'm even considering merging it with those threads for everyone's benefit.

There are varying views on Android security, threats and countermeasures best left to discussion in the community, not buried in the news.

New virus threatens phones using Android

"A virus infecting mobile phones using Google's Android operating system has emerged in China that can allow a hacker to gain access to personal data, US security experts said."

No surprises here then. Welcome to the land of the rising botnet.

"But the company said the only users likely to be affected are those downloading Android apps from China."

Although I'm in China, I've only been downloading apps from the official Google Android Market.
