Android virus

So why would they want to do this? Hmm, anyways there are several anti virus in the Market. One good one i hear is Lookout.
 
Meh, this is old news. I remember they were going to show it off to Google in hopes that they would take security more seriously.
 
Yuppers, old news. And also yuppers, not a virus, but a tool. You'll see me griping about the way it was released in the above mentioned thread, but it didn't stop me from going out and getting a Droid X ordered last weekend. And I'm totally awesome, so don't worry about it.
 
I have lookout. It scans all apps when you download them for viruses. It also has an antivirus that scans your phone on a schedule.

Actually, it doesn't seem to even register on the battery use statistics. Mine are as follows:
  • 42% Cell Standby
  • 31% Phone Idle
  • 19% Display
  • 5% Paper Toss (Is a game app I played for about 30 minutes total now)
  • 3% Android System
  • 2% Android OS
 
It boils down to this. You don't need an anti-virus app on your phone. The only anti-virus program you need is the one installed between your two ears. Don't install any apps that ask for permissions they have no business having. An app that helps you find your car needs to know your GPS location. A note taking app does not. It's just common sense. Putting anti-virus software on your phone is probably not going to hurt anything other than, potentially, your battery life. That's it. It could potentially kill apps that are legit and that you do want though.
