Help android widgets not opening.

cant open the android widgets, getting
"The application settings (process com android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.

samsung widgets, shortcuts etc. are working fine, any ideas?

really dont want to do a factory reset again, anyone any ideas?

I've got the same problem. I think it happened after I installed Kindle app but not sure. Uninstalled Kindle but no difference.
Does any one out there have an answer please.

I have the same problem yesterday after trying to update to 2.2 via Kies (unsuccessfully). It repaired with a factory reset.

I found that the problem was made by the new update of the Google Maps. When I installed again an earlier version the widgets works again.

You're a star. I just went into Settings~Applications~Manage Applications~Maps. There was an option there to uninstall update which I clicked and followed the instructions.
Tried to open Android widgets and it worked.
Then went into Market~My Apps and unchecked the auto update on maps.

Just hope someone can sort my other problem out which is a force close on my internet browser. It starts and then just closes.
