Androids with Auto-Brightness feature

Well, my first android was Galaxy Pocket C5300. But, it did have any auto brightness feature in it. I'm not checking to buy Galaxy Young S6312. Does this phone have the feature? Of not, how can i know which phone has theis capability.

most of the phones from gingerbread on up should have that feature.....for me though i never use it. i like my phone bright and be able to see it......anyways i do not see why ost do not have this feature unless it is one of the lower end android phones.

best thing is to go to your carriers store and play with it and see for yourself.

Go in settings & you might be able to customise the notification bar - adding useful buttons. Also check in widgets for power control.

I miss the power control widget on earlier roms which was customisable like the notification bar. Now it seems to be a fixed selection (but does include the brightness toggle).

it a unusual feature... if you've got a beautiful screen, why would you want it dimmed.... have an in-car charger/ desktop lead if power consumption is such an issue...

Because having a screen turn on too brightly in a dim room hurts my eyes.

i'm using gingerbread, and it has no such feature.Right now i'm using a Power Disc widget to control the brightness of the screen. I've heard that some Androids have a special feature where the screen adjusts the brightness automatically based on the sun light. I was asking about that. Thanks for the replies.

I don't use the option. I checked on the Motorola Droid X I have running Gingerbread and you can go to Settings | Display | Brightness and there is a checkbox to turn Automatic brightness on.

I did a google search for you and found that it does not have auto brightness: Samsung Galaxy Young specs. The reference to auto-brightness is in the Cons section. It has no ambient light sensor.

The purpose of auto brightness is to adjust the screen brightness in relation to the ambient lighting in the room. If you are in a dim environment, the screen does not need to be very bright for you to comfortably view the screen. A screen that is too bright compared to the ambient light may also make it uncomfortable to look at the screen. By adjusting the screen brightness automatically, it makes viewing the screen more comfortable and will conserve battery power when using the phone in darker environments.

The Lux app works great for this on my LG G2. It allows for a widget too so you can get to the manual setting if you want to override the auto-brightness.

Not sure if it applies to your phone though.
