Hi there - this list is really great! Do you have any idea who the manufacturers are of the gyros within these phones? I've been searching for teardowns of the phone, but they are not readily available. I'd like to compare specs of the gyros across phones. Thanks!

Unfortunately not. The app: Quick System Info PRO detects the sensors and some data.

I would be nice if some of you would run this app on your own phone, and send the gyro sensor data to this list.

For Samsung/Google Nexus S it is:

It is not confirmed.

Like most of the other phones the information comes form reading specs at different internet sites. But I would like to have the information confirmed from people running one of the apps pointed out in other posts. Of course for the S3 and a few others, we have to wait a bit for that:)
 
You can take the Samsung i897 Captivate off the list. It is shown in geekaphone dot com as not having gyros. I discovered this after buying one, too late to cancel the purchase. I'll be sending it back when it arrives.

I should have checked more closely before getting carried away on eBay.

It does look like the Samsung Captivate Glide has gyros. I am looking at that one, and also the LG Optimus 3d and LG Revolution. I'll let you know what I find that works.

I need one with accelerometers, gyros, compass, and GPS so I can run Aircraft Horizon and some other aircraft instrument apps. Geekaphone seems like a pretty reliable list, since they sometimes state that some features are unknown on a given phone. So, maybe when they say it has it, they are sure.
 
I was wondering if anyone could confirm whether or not the Samsung Galaxy S (the vanilla version) had a gyro. Looking at the wikipedia entry or gsmarena it doesn't seem to.

Although wikipedia does identify the vibrant as having a gyro, and has a good comparison page for android devices (some information in this thread might improve it though). The samsung website is next to useless.

I was looking for something cheap and cheerful and available in the uk to develop an app using gyros, and the SGS seemed like the best option, but if it doesn't have gyros then it defeats the point.
 
Okay. According to the android fragmentation database.

The Samsung Galaxy S (model GT-I9000) seems not to have a gyro (in the first three reports at least).

Nor does the brazilian version (GT-I9000B) in the first two reports.

Nor does the vibrant (GT-I9000M) in the only available report.

Nor does the mexican (GT-I9000T) in the first report.

Does anyone have alternative information? If not, I suggest you move the Samsung Galaxy S and the vibrant into the no-gyro list.

Hello all,

I don't see the Samsung tablets (Galaxy Tab) on the list.
Can someone check if the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 really has a gyroscope? It is not included in the specs in the official Samsung website, but it is so in other sites.

Never been there. But several sites claim it does have it. I'd look on mine, but not sure where to find that info.

Check for yourself. Download the app listed below. My Asus TF101 tablet has a gyro.

Download Android Sensor Box (also posted by sleedeane above). It checks and has small test apps for a variety of sensors.
 
My Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE DOES have one according to the Android Sensor Box.

You really need to keep editing the topmost post with the latest list. That way users do not have to search around.
