Angry Birds.. whats the big deal?

I think Angry Birds is a neat little game. I dont know that the game itself is addicting. I would say it's more of the structure of the game. There are so many levels that you can't help but make sure that you beat each one to unlock the next one. Most games that are considered addicting have this concept attached. Combine that with a smooth interface, and there's your money maker.

First time I heard the name Angry Bird I thought it was some BS related to Twitter as I don't have acc didn't care. Then people keep talking about AB so I downloaded it last week LOL man that game finished it in a day stop playing when I got tot the golden egg. Don't play games so ya.

IOWA - THere is a game that everybody likes ... ? Of course not.
Sstop asking why this is good ... FOr somebody it is .. for others it isn`t .. it cant be same for all

Personally, I'm with IOWA, AB is not a very addictive game, I got bored in about 5 minutes and uninstalled it. Oh well.

I am exactly the same way.

There is much more fun to be had with Emulators. Bottom line.

Angry Birds is just a simple little physics based game that "everyone" likes because "everyone" can play it.

It's on nearly every mobile OS there is (with a touchscreen).
Kinda crazy how they're already making a "movie"....

Well made, simple game which isn't too easy, but not too hard either.
With Angry Birds you can spend 4 minutes while w8ing buss or 1

This game is just over rated as all know who played it lol IDK who thought it was epic game must not have played real game, my bet is user might have just migrated from tetris or something LOL

Only reason I even finished it in a day was due to the pig's laughing which pissed me off, those fat F's.

My husband likes the game lots. He doesn't have a smart phone and when my phone is "missing" I know he has it. I think he is just passing the time because our 360 is dead. He's more of BlackOps guy anyway. I was a huge Farmviller but gave that up took too much time. eh AB is okay I keep the app installed for my hunny.

Meaning they grab as much info about you as they can (even your phone number) and send it back to the mothership. They then take that information and SELL it to advertising, telemarketing, and spam companies.

I simply don't see how they take and sell this information. I neither get spam mail nor phone calls, and I haven't added myself to any of these fancy lists people speak of. My girlfriend place this "crap" all the time and she never gets any of the above either. If someone is paying for my information, they sure don't seem to want to use it.

Of course, one (or two) person's experience is not indicative of the whole, but I am surely not seeing people complaining on the boards that they are getting spam mail and phone calls either. At least not in the mass amounts that one would think people would be receving such contact being that millions of this people have downloaded and frequently play this game.

Hit Google and see for yourself. Its well documented.

Hey guys have you seen the latest Angry Birds update?! Now they are asking to read your Sms Messages and the ability to send messages from your phone or something like that!
For the promise of 30 new levels and a Rio clip I'm not sure its worth updating if they are going to have access to our Sms messages too! :(

lmgtfy only works if the thread you post it in isn't on the first page for what you are googling... rofl

Angry birds is insanely popular because 99.99% of games released on android are utter crap. ;)

Lol I did find that funny.

i tried ab too, to see what all the fuss is about..it's boring and repetetive to me.

besides went to the Apple store today so my wife could get her iphone replaced due to a blown speaker, playing with the ipad, ipods and iphones, the games are awesome, and the fluidity and smoothness still amazes me. I have yet to play with any other tablet or android phone that works like Apples stuff does. The games and apps of android just do not seem up to par with apple.one thing i noticed is the Apple apps tend to have better looking ui's and sometimes more features. the weather channel app on the iphone has futurecast but not on android, it's things like that that make it look like android is an after thought by most developers.

The latest update's new permissions has forced me to uninstall Angry Birds. I admit that I may be over reacting and that the follwing permissions required by Angry Birds might not be harmful but I'm not willing to give up any of the info that they may be collecting.

Services that cost you money

send SMS messages
Your messages

receive SMS, read SMS or MMS
Network communication

full Internet access, view network state
Phone calls

read phone state and identity
System tools

prevent phone from sleeping

By contrast, here are the permissions required by one of the most downloaded android apps of all time, the game "X Construction"

Permissions

This app does not require any permisions

Why is it necessary for a game to have acces to my SMS and be able to send SMS? Too bad. I'm done with Angry Birds. Movin on.

It's not like Rovio is losing out from me leaving them. I'm rooted and never saw their adds anyway.

I am like some others im not a big fan of angry birds. Although it is still popullar i think alot of it has to do with when it came out on android it was one of a few well known polished games for the os.

Yeah that's more than a bit distrubing. What's worse, is the text message won't even show up in your history. Looks like adfree/droidwall no longer keeps angry birds safe. Eff that.
