Angry Bots demo

Check it out, uses the Unity engine. I think that the developer of Samurai and Shadowgun put this out

It's not a game - at least, not yet - it's a tech demo made by the people who created the Unity Engine. Not really playable on a Desire (not surprising) but it's impressive how well it does run. Not much game there - no health bar, no ammo etc. - but it's fun to jog around and look at stuff, shoot your gun and so on. Some really nice scenery. Worth a download to check it out at least. Unity is a very impressive engine.

Most impressive looking android game to date, looks awesome and runs perfectly, looking forward to the full version.

Ya, it's awesome! Although there is no ammo count or health bar, the backpack/light the guy has on is a health indicator. As you take damage it changes color. As you get really low it starts flashing.

The graphics, lighting and and reflections are amazing and it runs nice and smooth. Anyone figure out how to get through the red door?

Too bad it's just a tech demo though. I'm not sure if they'll be doing more with it or not. Under the "What's New" section in the market it says "Angry Bots demo that comes with Unity 3.4f4." I think it's more of a tool for developers than anything else. :(

HOLY CRAP!!! Yeah, this is BY FAR the BEST looking game I've got on my tablet. I didn't even think Android devices could run games like this (just... from what I've seen in the Android store, and how some games run on my acer 500) - I love it when devs use the full potential of Unity! Can't wait for the full version to hit the store... I'll be on it in a heartbeat!

To unlock the doors, navigate to a control center and stand there until the progress bar turns 'Green'.

That's an awesome feature! Thanks for showing that.

EDIT: Just "beat" the demo, it's pretty awesome. I love the door opening mechanic the incorperated into the game. At the end you get to enter that little art gallery and mess around with the different robots too.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Dungeon Defenders is far more impressive than this demo in terms of graphics and technical ability.

I doubt it, but the visuals in Angry Bots for me are more impressive, much better lighting and shader effects, the reflections and rain are a really nice touch.

Makes dungeon defenders graphics are static in comparision, obviously allot of potential with the unreal engine but it depends how the developer uses it.

This tech demo (not even a full game) is firstly controlled from an overhead view, meaning detailed textures/characters are not needed making the graphics easier to control/make look better. The demo doesn't even have characters to render and the enemies are a joke (little square bots). DD can be played from an first-person view allowing you to see the beautiful textures, background, characters/enemies, etc. Then you add in the all of the things happening on-screen (hundreds of enemies), and DD is far more impressive, at least imo.

I agree with Shocky that this demo looks better. Although you bring up some valid points, I think the game Shadow Gun, using the same engine and visual effects, will prove to be better than both of these games (at least visually).

The whole lack of enemies argument is moot. Although it is only a tech demo and doesn't have a whole lot of enemies compared to DD, there is nothing wrong with the current performance that indicates that these devices can't handle more intense battles (there are quite a bit more enemies as you get farther in the compound; aside from that, this game genre wouldn't call for 200 enemies at once anyway).

IMO, based off of your original statment, you have to be out of your mind to say that DD has better graphics than this demo because it simply does not (that's not to say DD doesn't look nice but as Shocky stated, DD looks blocky compared to Angry Bots). When you beat the demo you go into an art gallery in a 3rd person view (rather than the previous ariel view) and you can see how much detail both your character and the enemy bots actually have as well.

Dungeon Defenders was updated last week and the E3D supposedly works now, and I've tried downloading it several times without success (can't connect to the server for some reason). I'll try it again when I'm on campus tomorrow using a faster connection. It's been a while since I've played DD so I wanted a refresher of what it looks like. I never really got into when it came out because it ran terribly on the EVO 4G.

You both must be blind and I haven't seen enough of Shadow Gun to judge it.

What do you mean the lack of enemies is moot? You just say its moot and assume that the demo can handle more intense battles? Is this really your argument? DD has proven its ability to handle hundreds of enemies while this game has what, 5 at the most at one time? Please don't use speculation and only base your judgement on what is shown.

Maybe the your version looks blocky, but DD looks absolutely gorgeous on my SGS2. I even play in zoomed all the way (even though zoomed out is much more manageable) just because how incredible the game looks close up. An art gallery? You mean static images that you're just looking through? Unless the demo itself lets you play the game from 3rd person, seeing the pictures in the gallery is meaningless.

And now we get to the real reason why you think DD looks blocky (lol) and inferior to this game graphics wise. You don't even remember what DD looks like and when you did play it, you played it on an Evo 4G. You must have had the graphics turned to its lowest level to even run it (especially since the Evo isn't even recommended by the devs), and this is what your basing your opinion on. How could you even think your opinion was valid?

If you have, what more would you really want to see? An army of 300 guys attacking you? Would that prove that this different genre (FPS) of a game is better/worse "graphically and technically?"

Your argument is moot for the very thing I mentioned at the end of that paragraph. They are two completely different genres. "Based on what is shown" the graphics and technical abilities of AB is superior to DD. The amount of enemies on the screen means nothing. Just as I cannot "speculate" on the ability of AB being able to produce smooth gameplay with hundreds of enemies on the screen you cannot speculate that it cannot. Solely going off of what each game currently produces, AB is superior in quality.

The reason I mentioned the gallery was not the "static" pictures or the white room, but the character you play as well as the enemies you control. The same detail used there is used from the ariel view.

When I played it on the EVO I played it with the graphics all the way up, because changing the settings made little difference to performance. Based on the screenshots, the video and both past and current experiences, DD isn't nearly as good.

Don't you think your taking it a little far Spartoi ? just because we disagree with you does not mean we are somehow visually impared. :p

Ok, ShadowGun looks better than both.

Your argument is really saddening. So because its a shooter, you expect less on-screen enemies? How about games like Left4Dead, a shooter where you fight swarms of enemies? If you really think rendering massive amounts of enemies (and characters if you play online) whom have unique characterstics isn't a technical feat (especially on a mobile platform) then you just don't know what you're talking about, but why would it when your performance would probably remain the same if you played 5 enemies at once instead of 200. Angry Bots does nothing impressive besides its lighting and for you to say that AB is superior in quality irks me.

The reason I mentioned the gallery was not the "static" pictures or the white room, but the character you play as well as the enemies you control. The same detail used there is used from the ariel view.

Unfortunately, we can't see the enemies (little square bots) close up to confirm this.

Is more impressive than this?

Haha.

Lol. Angry Bots does look better lighting, graphics, etc but Dungeon Defenders does have a ton of more thing going on but I can run Dungeon Defenders on my rooted Nook Color on max with no lag. Would love to see Angry Bots graphics or better in a real game with zoom in and out. What you make is what people will pay for. Give me console quality game on my android and I'll pay $10-$20 easy if the value of the game is worth that. Hope someone gets pair and takes the risk to see what happens with actual support for the game. Spectral Souls did and that game isn't even close graphically as this but over 10,000 users so far have paid $15 bucks for it because it has value plus its limited to only rpg fans which is surprisingly a lot of people since many people didn't even get this game on psp. What if something actually popular came out.

Beats carrying around a 3ds or Psp just to play a game when I can do it right from my phone. Can't wait to Google advertises gaming more which I believe is coming soon. Once iphone users see a few games on Android thats huge that they can't even play they will notice what they been missing. Wish I had the funds. One day.....

Also, crossing my fingers on Onlive or Steam this year which ever comes first will be getting my funds.
