Anime/Manga not so ultimate otaku Lounge

Not really the summary doesn't do much justice but it was recommended to me and It was so good its one the rare animes to make me cry :'(

like Clannad but to be honest season 2 is when I cried on most of the episodes

*TIP* its on Netflix

The story reels you in soo good that you get attached to the characters. I can't stress how good Clannad is its #1 out of all the animes I've ever watched English dubbed and all

I'll take your word for it. I may try to watch it on your recomenation :)

The only time I can remember almost crying for anime/manga was when I finished reading Elfen Lied.

I finished reading Elfen Lied.

When it comes to reading I can't pay attention so Im kinda asking for a spoiler :) I know the anime didn't end with the manga so my question is what happened after the anime I think the person I saw at the end of the anime when the clock started working was nyuu so was it? And what else happens?

/Elfen Lied
The anime ended with who looked like Lucy was going to live. In the next to last manga chapter she begs Kouta to kill her and reminds him to go to the tree where they first met at the end of the summer festival and she will be waiting and will be a good girl. She finally is killed by Kouta in the end of the chapter.

In the final chapter there is a time skip and some wrap up for other character but Kouta is with his and Yuka's daughter, Nyuu, they are at the tree where Kouta and Lucy met and they find a letter where Lucy confesses her love to Kouta long ago and wants to marry him as well as reveals her name is really Kaede. Then Nyuu says she has some friends around there who aren't fully shown but it is a set of twins that gives the impression to be about Nyuu's age and could be the reincarnated parts of Kaede's personality Lucy and Nyu and Kouta is crying.

Sorry I said I suck at describing things like this ;)

 i never would've imagined an ending like that i wish they would have at least aired it as specials or a short OVA series :) that would be awesome

They left quite a bit out of the anime that was in the manga...
/elfen lied spolier
an entire character in fact. A friend of Yuka's who was abused of some type and had to wear a diaper for example. Also Lucy was way more powerful in the manga at least towards the end. An OVA would have been nice but they still couldn't show everything and I don't think they wanted to kill Lucy but instead give hope that people can change in the anime.

Well some anime series end on a sad note...death note for example of course the ending was kinda set from the first or second episode

true but in watching death note i found myself rooting for Light hoping he would get away with everything
but he ended up dying im pretty sure if he had the Shinigami's eyes earlier he would have succeeded in killing N and gotten away with it all

I think everyone was hoping for that

and if he had the eyes he would have died sooner ;) now if he could have gotten a shinigami to die for him and extend his life he might have been able to do it

Yonna in the Solitary Fortress

Just one episode on Crunchy Roll, it's 3D CG but instead of the usual creepy, there were moments when I was there. Watch past the credits.

Asura Cryin'

Also on CR - I've seen one episode and I believe I'm hooked. A ghost story.

Another

Speaking of which, I was surprised by Mei in Another. Who knew?

/Another
I can't get enough of this one
Mei is one of the better characters I've seen in a while, I watched Episode 6 today and even with the noir type setting of the show they manage to throw in a small comedy scene that made me laugh a bit

Withdrawing my recommendation for Asura Cryin' but some of you may like it.

A few episodes in and out comes (spoiler) -

boobs and giant robots.

I am so bored by the giant robot/suit meme.

I can think of times when I enjoy both of those things...;) I am not a big mecha fan either. I rather enjoyed Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but it didn't start out with giant fighting robots, of course by the end of the series they were way over the top but I liked the characters

I am not sure why I used hide tags...

I tried watching asura cryin' but I couldn't get past episode 2 it was extremely boring

I can take the first episode being boring inorder to setup a good story but asura crying didn't quite do it for me I personally like shows like The IDOLM@STER its very good you just have to get past the first episode

/off topic
Orion Pax Finallyyyy . Transformers Prime Season 2 will hope to bring many interesting concepts .(Anything will be a spoiler :D ) .
just check out Transformer prime season 1 (atleast Darkness Rising ,One shall stand ,One shall Fall ) for all the Machiavellian masterpiece of Robots in disguise :D .( I pulled an Early Mon )

Watch it for conniving Starscream , nefarious Megatron and a wise Ratchet (hey I needed that !! ).
Starscream steals the show both the seasons .

And Michael Bay movies are quite lame btw in it's comparison .

/spoiler
First human prime (sort of ) is chosen .

Afternoon Tiger is awesome name ,Hirudora is a lame name (>_> <_<) . Might Guy is awesome shinobi .Pity Kishi overpowered Naruto too much :( .Roar my Youth

Ok folks, you have convinced me...

If I am looking to start watching some anime again what would be a good starting recommendation?

Back in the day I watched stuff like Ranma 1/2, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Cowboy Bebop. I had seen a lot of other stuff as well.

I have netflix so anything on there would be an easy start. I can say I am a sucker for a good noir type story as well, and I remember a decent number of those in the anime genre.

I enjoyed "Darker than Black" it is available on netflix, "Death Note" is also good and dark. If you want to start with something shorter you could check out "Canaan" it is only 13 episodes and I watched it yesterday, it is pretty good :D

Glad you have decided to join us

I have been meaning to watch some again recently, but the wife isn't a big fan...

So that means I need to do it in my alone time which is also my Doctor Who (and pretty much every other awesome show that my wife doesn't like) time. Making it hard to make room for it.
