I ran tests on 3 different batteries for the S3 and thought I would share the results. These are all 3 standard size batteries that will fit without extra bulk, or a new battery cover. The stock Samsung and Hyperion have NFC, the Anker does not. My phone is the Metro PCS Galaxy S3 rooted, stock with TWRP.
I charged the stock Samsung 2100mah, the Anker 2200mah, and the Hyperion 2200mah batteries to 100%. I then ran the exact same test on all 3 batteries. I set up a movie (Avatar) to loop over and over, using MX Player, with full brightness in the app, and the device. I let it loop over and over until the battery died and the phone shut off. Here are the results I collected.
Samsung Stock Battery: (2100mah): Lasted 5 hours, 57 mins, and 40 secs.
Anker GS3 Battery: (2200mah): Lasted 6 hours, 59 mins, and 37 secs.
Hyperion: (2200mah): Only got 3 hours, 50 mins, and 45 secs. (After testing replacement got 6 hours 17 mins 47 secs.)
So the overall winner is the Anker beating the Samsung by about an hour, and the Hyperion by over 3 hours. Now I realize there is a 100mah difference between the Samsung and Anker, but that alone doesn't equal a whole extra hour of usage. And regardless it still lasts longer without adding any thickness. So its well worth it to me. I don't think Ive ever used, or plan to use NFC anyways.
I was surprised by the Hyperion results because I watched a youtube video with someone doing a very similar test, and the Hyperion lasted a lot longer. I may have gotten a defective battery. I have contacted the seller to see what they say.
UPDATE: After receiving the replacement Hyperion battery I ran the same test again twice with much better results. So Im pretty sure that the first battery is defective. Heres the new run times.
1st test: 6 hours 17 mins 47 secs.
2nd test: 5 hours 4 mins 21 secs.
