Annoying Ads

I keep getting notifications that are essentially ads. I think this is related to GOLauncher or GOLocker, but can't be sure. There is a star icon next to the notification. I have a malware app on my phone & it's not detectinv malware or viruses. Suggestions?

Push advertising. There's a sticky post about this over in Android Applications. It may well be Go, but there are several apps that can be used to identify the source, eg. Addons Detector (more details in the post I mentioned).

Yeah I have used Go Launcher and Go Locker for months and haven't seen one ad on my phone so I don't think it's from them. They seem to be one of the more reputable developers.

GO recently started adding AirPush to their applications.

I can't find the article I read about the GO Team specifically anymore (I'll post back with my source), but in the meantime: If you want to get rid of the AirPush ads, but still want GO Launcher...

Airpush - Mobile Ad network | Push Notification ad network | Mobile Ads Redefined | Android app Monetization

Though I will say that with our upcoming upgrade to ICS, you won't be using GO Launcher anymore.

Go seemingly have removed AirPush from GoContacts after the recent backlash. They may have learnt a lesson here...

Well, I don't use many of the Go stuff, just the launcher and locker. Is the airpush in those? Cause I can't find information about what it's exactly in or is it in all of the GO apps?

Can't speak for locker but it's not in Launcher.

Well, I noticed to that GO added something called AppCenter and Gamezone when I took the latest Launcher update.

EDIT: Ran that Lookout scan program, it didn't find any AirPush. Did find a few apps that used like AdMob, Adwhirls, Millenial and MobFox, but they seem to be safe apps, such as Astro, Speedtest, weather Channel, etc. Should these services be a concern?

No, none of them are intrusive in any way.
