Accessories Annoying car dock

I have the atrix car dock and reallly like it. However it has an annoying habit of not engaging car mode when the phone is put in the cradle. Sometimes it does but most of the time it doesn't.
The only way i can get it in car mode is to either turn the power to the dock on and off a couple of times or go to apps and choose car dock mode which kind of defeats the object.
Has anyone any thoughts on why this should be happening.

Nob, never had connection issue with car dock (been using it for half a year now). Check your connections.

It's happening with my Atrix 2 car dock.
