Help Annoying keyboard "problem!"

It's more of a BIG annoyance than a problem, but here's the dealio. I am a native English speaker living in Spain now so I need to text in both languages. A family memeber who was visiting last month generously left me their "American" Verizon S5 before going back home. The problem with the phone occurs if I go from the Google keyboard in Spanish to ANY other keyboard like Swiftkey or Swype or Touchpal to text in English. When I do, EVERY word is inderlined in red as being misspelled. To fix it I have to go back into the "select keyboard" screen and select the Google keyboard in English and then from there jump to any other keyboard like Swype so it recognizes that I'm typing in English. I've looked in the settings for the Google keyboard itself and in Language and input on the phone (Android 5.0) and there is not a "spell checker" in either of them to uncheck. Anyone have an idea on what's going on here and how to fix it? I've run out of ideas and it's getting to be a pain going back and fourth all the time!!

Hi

What language is your phone set to use?

Why not just change from Spanish to English within the google keyboard and use it for both languages - there is a "language switch key" which can be enabled in the settings for the google keyboard. You need to set active input languages to English and Spanish (in settings) not "use system language".

I'm not sure why you are having the issue - I do much the same with English and French (I live in France) and have not had this problem.

Why not just pick a single keyboard and roll with it? I mean both Swype and Swiftkey can support multiple languages at the same time. I have 2 languages activated kn Swiftkey and it predicts words for both.

I actually do that, switching from English to Spanish with the Google keyboard, but if I leave it in Spanish instead of English before I go to use another keyboard I get the underlining. The Phone is set to English.

Hope the mods forgive my double posting with this but I just checked the thread and saw that I had two replys. I have tried this before Chan, and I have noticed that the Spanish suggestions "contaminate" the English suggestions when I switch from one language to another and I rely HEAVILY on predictive text, so I like to keep Swype and Swiftkey English only!!

You can still use just one keyboard if you want it like that. On Swype, just go to settings and turn off bilingual setting. Then when switching languages, instead of changing keyboards, just long press on the spacebar on Swype and choose a different language.

While I personally prefer Swiftkey as a keyboard, it can't do quick language toggles. They seem to think if you want two languages you'd have both active.

I'm not sure I follow you Chan. I know that Swype will switch between the two languages, but I have still noticed that with Spanish enabled as a second language even when I'm typing in English I'll get some Spanish suggestions like "hola" for "hope." I kind of have Google as a "junk" keyboard to type in Spanish on because I need something to type with on Spanish and Googles prediction is far below Swiftkey or Swype so I don't use it for English really.

Yeah just tried it. Seems like a bug. Setting Swype to use only one language doesn't stick and suddenly the second language js activated.

Although I really can't relate much with your situation. I have Swiftkey using two languages and it doesn't affect my predictions and typing where there are two languages being predicted.

I'm running SUPER Swiftkey also so I'll take your word for it and try it in Spanish too. Let's see if that will fix my stupid red underlining problem too!!
