Annoying notifications Galaxy 3 note

I just bought a galaxy 3 note and it started notifying me every five minutes, but I can't tell what it is notifying me about. Is there a place to check that out and how do I get rid of it.
 
Pull down the notification bar (one finger at the top of the screen - pull down). As far as getting rid of it, it depends on the notification.
