Help Annoying quirk with copy/paste

[Matrix Leader]

So I copied some text on my android in whatsapp.

Now I want to select another text but when I select the new text using the two blue pointers, I hold I press and hold my finger in the middle area of the text and it just gives me a "Paste" option of the text I had copied previously. What I want to do is to clear that copied text I had in the clip board and start a new selection

how to do this please?

thanks

Anyone?

There should be various buttons on a toolbar at the top of the screen when you select text, do you see them?
