Annoying SMSes...

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member and I really hope that I'm doing everything correctly (ie. that this is the right place to be starting this thread, that there isn't another one the same as this)!

I recently bought my phone (HTC Sensation XE) and had a bit of fun with installing apps from the Google Play store. However, since yesterday, I've been frequently receiving SMS messages from "50" (the phone number is 50), each containing a suburb I'm in/near. For example, when I was on the train at Redfern, I received 3 SMSs within 5 minutes from "50", each saying "Redfern".

I don't know if this is due to malware or some dodgy app. My phone is not rooted and the first thing that I had installed was the Avast! Mobile Security app. Avast hasn't found anything suspicious....

Could someone please help? I'm only just learning to use Android properly (I just changed from using an iPhone)... My phone's running on ICS, by the way.

Well, first question - what mapping / local directions / local things to do type apps have you installed? Sounds liked one of them is configured to update your position constantly, you need to figure out which one and change the settings.
