Unfortunately there is no "one for all" solution. Just like the Windows and Linux platforms, different multimedia contents require different codecs. Google Watching Movies - Google Play Help offers a way to rent and watch movies from their store.

Perhaps something that is compatible with a video file called avi I think it was?
I find MX Video player does most of the video formats I need. Rockplayer is also another one you might want to take a look at.
