Help Another contacts-filtering question

Hey all, I have a small (but irritating) problem with my new-to-me Samsung Galaxy S. I've synced it with my g-mail account so that I can receive email updates, but in doing so, all the email addresses were imported to my phone as separate contacts. I went to the computer interface and merged duplicate contacts and then was able to only show contacts with phone numbers in my contact list, and everything was great..

EXCEPT... when I try to add recipients to a text message, I still have the full contact list (email addresses, phone numbers, etc) so if I want to send a text to "Will xxxx" I have 3 different contacts for "Will xxxx" (presumably one from a phone number, one from facebook and one from g-mail).

I would LOVE to have only contacts with phone numbers show up as possible recipients for text messages, because if I'm going to send an email I'll do it through the gmail app, not via text. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Cliffs-- duplicate contacts from facebook, phone and gmail only show up when selecting recipients for text messages (not in normal contact list). I'd like to ONLY see people with phone numbers on my phone, ever.

This is one of the things that really annoys me with Android and sadly there's nothing that can be done about it I'm afraid.

Something else that annoys me is the notification for new messages. The setting to turn off new message notifications in the status bar also disables notification sounds! I personally don't want a notification in the status bar but I do want the phone to give me an audible alert to new messages however, this is not possible

Anyhow, that's my little rant over with.

Ray.
