Another Data Outage?

I thought I was going crazy this morning. I've been messing w/ my phone the last 30 min trying to figure out why/how my data connection got turned off and how to get it back on.

W/ all the other little issues I'm having w/ the phone, alarm keeps changing ringtones wtf? & other stuff, I was nearing the point of returning it.
 
Yea, 4G outage again I'm sure of it. In DFW, TX and I cant get any 4G connection. In fact, I had to restart to get 3G. WTH Verizon

Looks to be 4G auth related that causes the data outages. Perhaps new 4G device launching tomorrow? Seems like there's outages the day before a new device launch.

No data in south Carolina. Additionally, my razr will not even go into 3G mode or 1x. I called Verizon this morning and the rep said he had just received an email detailing a major nationwide 4g outage.....again. Bad form from Verizon once again.

I was also told that if it is a major outage, 4g phones will not work in 3G mode either. What the heck???

Verizon is soon going to be known as the most unreliable network.
 
3G only mode worked just fine here. All calls worked just fine (since calls are on the 1x network).

I can see how it (even 3G) won't work if you leave the phone in 4G mode.
 
Glad to see I'm not the only one having issues I'm in North Carolina, yesterday I had slow or intermittent 4G and horrible hand-off issues. Then this morning didn't have 4G at all and it wouldn't go into 3G. I had to put it in 3G only mode in the setting then reboot to get 3G back working.
 
I have no 3g, no 4g in Northern MN. Wouldn't be that bad if my desk wasn't on the outer range of the wifi in my school. Guess I'm stuck using my computer for internet. :(
EDIT: ok, i just did a reboot in CDMA only mode, and now I'm getting 1x data, but not getting wifi at all. Not happy...

If this is America's most reliable 4G network, how bad is AT&T?
 
No data in Northern Virginia. Extremely poor service, Verizon. You only get away with treating customers like this who prefer you to AT&T for so long...
 
3G right now in KY, but no 4G. Even 3G was out more than not, but seems stable ATM.


Update. 4G is back and better signal than before in the building I work...... For now, at least.

Or Sprint.... Even with the outages, VZW has by far the best network and coverage for me. pretty much completely saturated. There has not been anywhere I haven't been able to make a call or jump on the web, and I live in a very rural location.

I understand the frustration with the outages, but it is part of the growing pains of switching to the newest fastest network. It will get better. And if anyone thinks the grass is greener.... Well it's not. I'd rather have the occasional outage because my carrier is building out and adding to the network, than to be throttled (AT&T) or have horrendous speeds and terrible coverage (Sprint).

and I honestly don't doubt that Verizon might have the most reliable 4g network. It still sucks, with the constant connectivity issues, horrendously inconsistent speeds, and random complete network outages. But it sucks less than everyone else's.
 
Given the complexity of a network data signal (in particular 3G/4G), seems a technical miracle there are not more issues. The more digital a system is, the more emphatic/binary the failures (it works or it does not).

Simply put, life is what it is and stuff screws up.

Though correct in perspective, I hope VZW does not rationalize this way ;)
 
My LTE and 3g are back up in Northern Minnesota. Hopefully everyone else's comes back momentarily (and mine doesn't fail again :( ).

Pretty much, and there is always a trade off between rapid deployment of the network infrastructure and reliability. Verizon, if they wanted to, could implement LTE with a goal of 99.999% reliability (random large percentage made up), but the roll out would take decades. Actually the outages don't bother me too much. They're obviously bad, and disruptive but their pretty typical of a new/growing network. The general crappiness of the system when it is working does bother me (inconsistent speeds, connectivity issues mostly). At this point in the roll out the day to day experience should be better.
 
Not sure why you blame technology for verizon design errors....
