Another fine mess

Now the Moto G Stylus is doing that sick Android thing. I would include a photo of that but it's shifted to bar codes, which I have pictured. On the "surgery" screen it says something about oem locked. How do I fix this thing? How do I get an openable phone?

Now it's gone back to the "main" screen. Here are two photos of that. Do I have to try to reset it?

I guess that is all I have. It broke down suddenly in the middle of the afternoon during a phone call. I'm getting tired of this.

I read that one way to deal with it is to let the battery drain and then plug it in, supposedly getting it out of fastboot mode. How did it get that way in the first place, and how do I prevent it from recurring? Remember that I have no computer access. Having a removable battery would probably be a great help.

The volume key (I guess) seems to be stuck. Whatever that is, it's above that unfortunately dished out power button on the right. At least IT'S still working. If the other, normal stickout (probably volume) isn't working, how do I fix this thing?

if it is a hardware issue, you will either have to get a professional to do it or try and take it apart yourself to get it fixed.

How do I get a spudger? How do I use it? What's this power trip about not being able to open our own phones? Do you remember that crazy car made just for Barbie...oops I mean girls, with a pink paint job, cutouts in the seats for ponytails, and no way to open the hood? It should have tanked...and it did.

not sure what that is but i'm sure you can find it here:
https://www.ifixit.com

they also have guides on how to take apart most phones.

Could I somehow fix this thing by hooking it up to a computer? I don't how I could but I guess it'd be worth it. I've tried just letting the battery drain but I think it might be permanently charged.

not sure how Moto does their firmware updates. but my guess is that they have some sort of utility program that you can run on your pc to flash a firmware update.

maybe this might help:

you will need a pc for this.

Can you send me one? I really could use a PC. Would a Mac work just in case? I think the volume button's stuck. Is there some way around it? I'm wondering if this a problem endemic to the Moto G Stylus because the other one I have did exactly the same thing and I haven't been able to fix it either.

i wish i could. i do have some laptops somewhere, but they are all broken for one reason or the other and just have not had the time to fix them.

probably a mac will work, but i you most likely will need a linux shell running adb to flash the firmware. but i'm not that great with linux.

as far as this being a common problem with your phone, i have not seen it here, so i do not know.

Is there a way to extract data from a phone (not its SD card) without a computer? I still want to get a spudger, but I'm hoping that I can get the ebooks anyway. The last I checked the Moto G Stylus was eternally on, though I'm not sure why...

depends on the data. the only way to extract and move files without a computer is thru the sd card.

I may be able to use a library computer to fix the Moto G Stylus. How would I do that? Should I download adb and how would I use it? I'm not techie enough to avoid asking these stupid questions.

Maybe if I could unstick what I think is tbe volume key (on the right side above the dished out power key) I could fix this thing. I don't know how to do that. I tried holding the power key for a long time but all that did was make the screen go on and off, still showing the Android open.

Ok, I've used the starting fluid, and the key hasn't budged. Then I hooked up the phone to a Dell, only to get that message about usb not being recognized. Next, I used that trick about changing USB settings. I'm not sure what good that did. I did get into the command line of minimal adb/fastboot. When I typed in fastboot devices (twice), there was no response. Maybe I'll have to try downloading drivers. The saga continues...
