Help Another JB Upgrade Problem Has Surface For Me

Vildy

Newbie
After Upgrade I lost my Quick Setting/ Notification Panel..Got NO help from Asus Support. Don't know if anyone else is experiencing this problem but here's the sequence of events.

Before JB update, Quick Setting Panel/Notification screen came on after Boot up.

After JB Update no Quick Setting/Notification panel. Period!!

Just by happenstance, I had removed by 64g MicroSD card and booted up. Bam!! QSP appeared.

I powered down and installed the MicroDS card. Powered back up. You got it.. No QSP..!!

Just by happenstance, again, I plugged in my earbuds. Bingo, QSP appears. Earbuds out. QSP disappears.

Something is going on between JB, and the MicroSD card which disables the QSP :(

Same scenario over and over. Now, the only way that I can get a Quick Settings Panel/Notification screen is to plug in my earbuds or do it the hard way and go into "Setting" to adjust screen brightness, turn on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, etc instead of a simple tap of the bottom of screen for the QSP

OK, that is seriously weird. What are the first two letter/number combination of the serial number of your device?

The QSP shows up if:

  1. You uninstall the MicroSD
  2. You insert your earbuds

How about if you do *both*? And what is the micrSD formatted as?

Build # JR003c.US_epad-10.4.4.16-20120927 Pad EC ver. PD-C20T-0216..

MicroSD formatted exFAT.

My troubles began with the Jelly Bean upgrade. I was one of the few unfortunate ones.

Before JB upgrade:

Ice Cream ran smooth as silk. No problems. Tablet was extremely responsive. No lags, no shutdowns, and the movies played from the MicroSD card were crystal clear with no lags or pixelation . Music played good also.

After JB:

I had multiple problems including the one listed above. Other problems included: Shutting down & restarting itself, then rebooting in Safe mode; Slow response on touchscreen (4-5 taps), slow or intermittent connecting to internet despite of strong WiFi signal. Problem with ebooks, etc etc. I rebooted,I cold started, I reset to factory default...etc. Nothing resolved the problems I was having..

Jelly Bean upgrade is/was the culprit.

Anyway, I am returning the unit for another one.. Already got the RMA# and mailing label. Will send it back 10-8-2012. It was so hosed ASUS tech Support couldn't figure it out.. I love the unit itself and at the moment would not consider anything other than the Infinity.

Glad you've got that solved. I'm tempted to contact Best buy and RMA mine for a new serial number with older firmware so I can nvFlash it to brick proof it lol.

I'm hoping that the new one comes with Ice Cream installed instead of Jelly Bean. In that case, I will not be upgrading firmware to JB. I'm sure JB is great but as for me, I'm too gun shy to pull the trigger on JB. "Once bitten twice shy".....

I'm definitely considering the nvFlash option on the new one.

FYI: I read somewhere that Latest update prevents this! If you're on 9.4.5.30, you can't get nvflash
