Root ANOTHER newb question lol

So I was on OTA GB and SBF'd back to froyo (.340) without any problems. Then I wanted to just check out a little of what was available in froyo before I continued on to rooted GB (.596 right?), so I installed the Liberty ROM and just made a few other minor changes.

At that point I had to take care of a little more important issue - my daughter's birth :):):)

But now I have a little time again, so my question is can I just install the rooted GB right over this setup or do I need to SBF again and go directly from that to rooted GB?

Having a strong Windows background from waaaay back in the Windows 3.0 days always leaves me with the nagging feeling I should "format and start from scratch" lol...but don't know enough about the Android/Linux OS yet so thought I'd check.

EDIT: the current setup was rooted with Z4root if it matters.
 
yeah, you will need to SBF. The update to GB requires all the froyo files to be there since its only a patchy.

Congrats man. And what VS is REALLY trying to say is we hope she grows up strong, healthy, and a Droid fan......;):D

As for yer post, yes, you have to SBF back to Froyo cause you put the Liberty Rom on. Once your back to Froyo you just need to root with z4root, install D2 bootstrap, and flash TBH's two file method to get you to rooted .596. You can find those files and instructions here,

Success! Now on rooted GB and running with no problems. Thanks for all the help. What are everyone's best suggestions now as to what to do with my new-found superuserness kungfu?? :D

Oh - and there will be no rotten Apples in my little girl's future lol
 
you never know, in that time, their may not be android or apple, or microsoft, but maybe something else. only time will tell
 
lol yeah...well I remember the days when Windows 3.0 was the sh$#t...and I never coulda seen Android coming so you're right who knows what's coming!
