So just got my thunderbolt today and so far loving it. But I had a system update right out of the box. Went to update, and it said server connection error or something like that. Tried a few times and it would start and therm say that. When I go to try again it's saying no software updates available. My baseband is 1.16.00.0223r. Any help would be great.

It looks like you are on MR1 so there is an update out there for you.
Try searching for the update in 3g. It looks like it is hit and miss, if you keep trying eventually you will get it, I wouldn't worry about it too much if you don't have any issues currently like say random reboots.

Ok, that actually brings me to my next question or so. The first time the update failed and I clicked on status, it actually said in there "failed". Now when I check that, it is just all blank.
And second, I was just curious if it would help me pick up 4g in my apt. At the Verizon store I had full lte signal, and when i get home, I only have 3G, but live about 5 miles from the store. Didn't think that would make that much of a difference.

Sometimes if you take off the back cover and only use 1x it'll work, when it starts downloading you can snap it back on for 3g or 4g speeds.
