Anti Theft

Hi

I defined my phone to have a pattern lock so you need to draw a pattern in order to unlock it.

How safe is it? can it be bypass easily in case someone steals it?
I ask this so I'll know which is better, a simple app that only tells me where my mobile is or a full featured app that does almost everything regarding anti theft?

Thanks

Giving it some more thoughts, I think when someone steals a mobile he is after the mobile and not something else, so basically right after stealing it, he will try to reset it completely so given that, how good are all the apps of anti theft?

I'm sure a phone can be reset not only by doing it through the menu of the mobile itself, right?

All phones AFAIK can be hard reset with a button combination.
Personally I'm more concerned about my data than the device, so I use PIN lock, Cerberus, Prey and some basic Tasker profiles triggered by sms to handle missing / stolen phone scenarios. Cerberus can remote wipe data in a theft scenario.
Pattern lock could be vulnerable to the thief reading finger smears and figuring out your pattern if the pattern is basic.

But .... don't forget that AntiTheft apps can track your device. If somebody puts you a hidden antitheft app, it's a real spyware :)

Hi there! Try using antidroidtheft app. Antidroidtheft is a free app that will help you track your android phone if it has been lost or stolen. It uses your phone's built in tracking ability to allow you to locate your phone using the internet and a web browser. Once the application is installed on your phone, you may go to this page to track your phone. You will also recieve email updates if someone changes the phone number for the phone, so if you are unable to locate the phone, you will get the phone number of the person who found / stole it.
antidroidtheft is a completely free service, losing a smart phone can be an espcially bad thing, since they are so expensive, and carry so much information. The developer of this application decided to make this application after having a phone stolen.
