Anti-Virus

No. No. No. No. No. The Nexus 7 is not a Windows based virus magnet. BTW, it sounds like you need a Mac. Do yourself a favor and head down to your nearest Apple Store or Best Buy and pick one up. Your computing life will improve dramatically.

If you regularly transfer files between your computer and Nexus and other computers, it's feasible the N7 could act as a carrier and pass them on but if you are confident in the security of your own computer it shouldn't be an issue.

It's not likely the N7 would get a virus itself but as the platform keeps on growing it will be targeted more and more with specific malware.

Much more important than AV is making sure you only install apps from trusted sources.
There are any number of "app stores" popping up and who knows where the stuff is coming from?

Do we really need to make this into a debate about macs? God knows the internet has enough of those already :p

I think it's a perfectly reasonable question Stitch. Although like shaney said, just be sensible about what you install and where it comes from and you'll be fine.
