Root Any Accomplished Phone Rooters in S.E.Michigan

I need help with my Mytouch 4G..i bought it used a couple months ago and it works fine for the most part, the guy i bought it from "rooted" the phone with Ice Glacier...However when i open some internet windows, as the window downloads completely the phone flashes back to my home screen and i cant seem to fix that...Im not very savvy on phone rooting or confident in doing anything like that with out ending up with a "paper weight" and sometimes when i plug my charger in the phone pops up on the screen
-reboot system now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data /factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced
so im hoping i to find someone in my area that can help me out with this. im in macomb, mi 48044

sometimes when i plug my charger in the phone pops up on the screen
-reboot system now

-wipe data /factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced

That is the clockwork recovery screen. It shouldn't just pop up like that. Make sure you don't press anything on that screen except reboot - if you don't know what you're doing, it will only make things worse.

Do you know if the phone is running a custom ROM, or kernel?

for the last part there it is ClockworkMod Recovery popping up, it coming on when phone is plugged in while powered down is a known glitch one way of making it quit is to goto Settings, select "connect to PC", select "Default connection type" and set it to charge only.

do you know what version of Iced-Glacier you have on the phone? do you have ROM Manager on your phone, if you do open it up and select "Fix Permissions" and let it do it's thing, it will tell ya to reboot when it's done.

i dont have any idea what is on the phone ROM or otherwise. The only reason i know ice glacier is on there, is becasue i see it when i pull down my top bar, for email, messages or missed calls. im sure you know what i mean. this is why i need the help......anyone out there able to help me
