Any cool features most people dont know about?

Hey guys i work for a us cellular authorized agent. Were starting to have device days were we educate our customers about there phones. OUr first one is on the samsung mesmerize. The only features i know about that most of the other phones dont have is swype and the face detection feature on the camera. I have a list of apps as well but seeing as those arent phone specific i thought i would try to get some answers here. TY all.

The built in wifi hotspot feature. Since you're an agent I dunno if you want to let your customers know that it will work without a tethering plan, but it does.

Best display quality on any phone USCC has available.

Don't know much else to tell you. I removed all USCC bloatware from mine and use custom 3rd party apps for all day to day functions (Home screen launcher, SMS, Email, Browsing).

I guess you could tell them that USCC does the best job of any carrier of NOT loading a bunch of bloatware crap that soaks up the available memory and storage. Makes it much easier to customize the phone to the way YOU like it.

One thing I'm really proud of for my Mesmerize but not really a new feature is my 3000mAh extended life battery.

You can dial or text phone numbers from webpages or emails by tapping them. I don't know if this is actually a special feature on the Mez, but my wife's LG Optimus doesn't do this, and it is SUPER handy.

Uscelularagent - As a customer of USCC, myself, I know first-hand that USCC is among the best service providers. They also have some of the best phones available. I own a Mesmerize and I can say that it works better than a lof of other Android phones out there. My fiancee owns the LG Optimus and it is definitely a low-tier phone as it crashes constantly (even with standard firmware programs like messaging and email). The Mesmerize does not see a lot of crashing (in my experience) and it also offers a better reaction/performance overall.

Some features many people don't know about is the simplicity of modifying the UI to match that of their own personality. Although 3rd party, I do recommend it. The standard USCC/Android 2.2 UI is great in its own way, too. Some apps to metion to customers are My Navigator, 5MP Camera, Daily Briefing, Places, Think Free Office, and even the feature of 'speaking' what you would like to search while using the Google voice search.

Hope this helps!

What apps do you use for this? are you rooted?

Nope, not rooted at all. I don't like the risk involved. I use 3rd party market apps like GoLauncher, Regina3D, 7Launcher, etc. Currently I'm using a paid version (was less than 2$) of 7Launcher. It's pretty slick looking and definitely makes my phone stand out from a lot of other Androids. It uses minimal battery to operate and has yet to crash on me.

Also, I'm using an extended life battery at 3500mAh that I bought off of Amazon for 19$ (including expedited shipping). So far it's been working wonders. I can listen to music all day long on my phone, enjoy some apps, and make phone calls all without having to even think of charging the phone.

As long as you are running the stock OS (i.e. not loading custom ROMs or kernels) there is virtually no risk to rooting your phone. I would say "no" risk but it would be my luck you'd be the first person ever to brick their Mez using Super One Click.

Rooting your phone simply gives you "admin" rights to the rest of the phone. You are your own IT manager, as it were...

Don't be such a coward and root the thing! It is the best part about Android is that you can have total control over the entire phone. It is like being able to control the device with your mind. Everyone is doing it. You will be cool if you do and we will let you hang out with the other cool kids.

Does the larger battery add much size or weight to the phone? Did you have to get a different case for it?

I would like to root my phone, but although I'm a coward in doing so I don't have to worry about anything going wrong, am I right?

When I purchased the replacement 3500 mAh battery on Amazon, the seller included a replacement back cover. It is a bit larger (about 2x), but personally I think it's better this way. I have a better grip on the thing and when I'm talking on the phone it fits better between my head and shoulder with less leaning of the neck involved.

Plus, I can be on the phone all day playing games, calling people, messaging, etc. all without JuiceDefender and still have battery left at the end of the day. I'm also running Launcher7. =D

I have been left with 60%-70% battery life at the end of the day and I have WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS on all the time and use my phone regularly for not only text and calls but also web surfing, sports betting, sports score lookups, news apps, music and video....I also didn't have to spend any extra money or have an ugly bump on the back of my phone. How have I achieved this seemingly limitless amount of awesomeness, you ask? I installed the Heinz 57 gingerbread mod and it is so much cooler than you it is unbelievable.

Don't let the terrorists win....Install custom ROMs.
