Is there any browsers out there that are just plaim and simple. I run a HTC one x, the built in browser I tabbed. In the menu tab there is a home button, and history.. very simple, woks well.. bookmarking is a doddle works with my book mark widget a well. I'm on ics 4.1. I think this is a HTC browser.

Now can I get the same on the nexus running jb.. no chance.. ivb tried every browser going.. i cannot find what should be simple task.. I am using opera but that is missing simple features... any ideas...

I quite like the Dolphin browser. Choosing "full site" still yields the mobile version of some sites in the Chrome browser but Dolphin always yields the full site when that option is chosen.

I use Dolphin , Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Boat - depending on the task. I actually like Boat best.

dolphin so far is the best although latest updates from google chrome made it far better than before, why dont you try both.
never heard of naked, is it that good?

Be careful with browsers. Most of them out there spy on you in some way. Not only is it an invasion of your privacy, it wastes battery power, bandwidth, and CPU cycles. I made Naked Browser in response to this situation.

I like naked, and lightning for light third party browsers, but the stock browser from ICS is still the most stable and fast with flash in my book.

Let me know where stock ICS browser does better with Flash than Naked Browser and I will look into the problem. Provide URLs, steps on how to reproduce problem, etc. please.

My bad. Punctuation/verbiage error there. That should've read "and fast, with flash"

Don't get me wrong. I love Naked Browser, and I appreciate the effort you put into it. I just still like the stock synced with chrome. Can you import bookmarks into Naked yet?

I also love Naked, mainly for speed. I export my FF bookmarks from my pc about once a month, and just have a shortcut that opens the html file in the browser. Don't have to mess with all the importing and exporting problems testing various browsers. Fairly easy to add a background image in the html document. I click on my Naked icon and this pops up: (could easily use a hot female as a background image if you wanted it themed more "naked")

Oh, I see now. Importing from the system bookmarks requires an extra privilege and I do not want to require any more with this version of Naked Browser. Geo-location and some other things are also missing.

Part of the issue is that I made Naked Browser for myself. I don't like/want/need geo-location/bookmark import/chrome sync. A bigger reason was that I didn't want to ask for too many permissions. Trust is a main goal of the project. All this being said, I would like to launch a more full-featured paid pro version that will require more permissions but will also be trustworthy.

Thanks guys. And I like the way tcat007 deals with his start page and bookmarks: nice customization!

nakedbrowser,

Can you make an easier way to get to the url bar for when you are towards the bottom of a long page. Right now I either need to scroll all the way to the top of the page or hit the menu button - more - top. Is there a way to squeeze it in the first menu page or perhaps you can come up with a better idea to make an easier way to get to it? I know it's a trivial request but making it easy to navigate around the browser and web pages should be a priority. Please :D.

P.S. Looking forward to trying the pro version. I love plain, fast apps with tons of options :). I don't care for the scary permissions though so hopefully anything that needs them is also optional.

If you have the time, we lay men would love a breakdown/tutorial on how to do all that :D

The device menu button shows the URL bar. You should not have to select more > top after pressing menu.

Another way is to use your device's search button, if it has one. This will show the top menu and put the focus in the URL bar so the soft keyboard pops up.

As far as permissions for the pro version, if an app has an option to use geo-location then the app needs to request this permission before installation even if the geo-location option is never turned on by the user. So, the pro version will have to ask for that permission when installing. That being said, there will be a checkbox "Allow sites to request geo-location". Also, when a site requests location the user can deny the request.

I can't believe I didn't notice the menu button brings up the url bar. Thanks for the tip!

It's also good you're including optional checkboxes for the things that need other permissions. I'm looking forward too seeing the pro version.

Keep up the great work and thank you for your time.
